Position Description: Fill & Download for Free

These days, most employers won’t bother to read a resume. They’ll expect you to apply online and they’ll use some sort of electronic search tool to scan for keywords that relate to the position description, and go from there.This is unfair to applicants and not smart overall, but there you have it.There is no perfect strategy, but putting as many key words and phrases as you can from the job solicitation into your resume or whatever other response you are using is a good start.Being buried under thousands of resumes waiting to be read so that things like style or format become paramount are yesterday’s news.

I asked this question.I would like to rubbish this claim.Have they conducted an all India survey asking how many women are unfaithful in all the cities, and have stats before coming to this conclusion and maligning my favorite city like this?Even in Bengaluru, what is the sample population they have spoken to? Compare that to the total Bengaluru population.I thoroughly disapprove sensationalism like this to attract eye balls. For the same reason I hated it when some people started calling Delhi the rape capital and another city (I don’t remember which) the suicide capital.Let’s come out with some good positive descriptions. Not terms like these.—

Not exactly a bullet. I worked for a horrible company for almost 7 years. In all that time, my duties increased tremendously, yet my position description never changed and the annual pay raises were anemic. It was after the crash of 2008, and I was an over-50 worker, so I put my head down and pushed through it. Not easy — in any given year, 25% of our employees voted with their feet.In year seven, I went to my manager and told her I was seeking a better job — better conditions and better pay. She asked if it would satisfy me if my position were to be upgraded to match my duties, with an acceptable salary adjustment. I told her to go for it, but that if I found other employment first, there would not be a bidding war.She went to management, who told her that she should give me an excellent reference and let me go on my merry way. After all, their turnover was 25%, and there was a revolving door on employees. I was replaceable.Shortly after, I received a call from a West Coast headhunter. I flew out to Washington and interviewed for a job that, compared to the one I was leaving, was much less stressful, with much nicer people, and a significant (35%) increase in pay. The only downside was the location, a very rural town in North Central Washington, with no amenities and very little to recommend it as a place to live. Nevertheless, I spent 2–1/2 years there and was much happier than with the previous employer.The same employer that tried to bid up the game when I gave them my notice, even though I had already told them there would be no discussion. The same employer that subsequently upgraded the position descriptions of everyone in my former department, complete with salary adjustments. The same employer that tried unsuccessfully for more than a year to replace me. The same employer that ended up contracting with me to assist them from my new position in Washington State.Sweetest revenge ever, and I never had to say a word.
