Alphanumeric Outline: Fill & Download for Free

Traditional alphanumeric outlines are Roman, then upper case, then Arabic, then lower case. Personally I dislike this system: it's difficult to read, lacks context and is occasionally ambiguous.The preferred system for technical writers, which may be appropriate here, is decimal outlines: ie tiered numbers such as 1.1, 1.2.1 etc. Top level sections are sometimes numbered like 1.0.

All actual release codes are in military hands, as are the actual nuclear war plans.Civilians have never, ever had access to them, not a US President, not a Secretary of Defense, simply no civilian. They are briefed on the procedures and on the general outline of the war plans, but they do not get to read them.

To avoid confusion brought by the infinite ways to communicate and avert misunderstanding from diverse accents, there is standard phraseology to communicate. For example an FAA would instruct an aircraft to climb to a particular altitude by stating the following “KingAire 751, climb and maintain flight level 300 (30,000 feet), fly heading zero, niner, zero.” Note the aircraft type or airline is followed by the flight number or the last three of the aircraft registration, the specific phrase to climb and maintain the altitude which is converted to a flight level above a designated altitude avoiding the confusing term “thousand” then asking the pilot to fly an eastbound heading of 0–9–0 using the industry standard pronouncing 9 as “niner”. The alphanumerics used by the military like Bravo for the letter B or Whiskey for the letter W, are the norm, There are FAA manuals that outline thousands of preferred phrases for use in flight communications. Furthermore, upon initial contact with the tower an aircraft will identify itself by ID, location and intent. Controllers will typically provide the runway in use at their airport, indicated wind speed and direction and the current altimeter. I could give a three hour lecture on the subject but you get the picture. Standardization is the goal for uniformity that leads to safe, orderly and expeditious flying.
