What is the immigration process like for a United States citizen married to a British citizen to move to England?

You’d need to apply for a U.K. settlement visa as the spouse of a British citizen. For the purposes of your application, your spouse would serve as your sponsor. In addition to a generic application, where you would provide personal details and list your travel and immigration history, you would need to provide additional paperwork to satisfy the requirements for the settlement visa. Crucially, your spouse would need to meet income and/or savings minimums to guarantee your maintenance, i.e. to prove your spouse could support you if necessary without having to dip into public funds. For my own application (as a fiancee), we included six months of my fiance’s paystubs signed by his HR to corroborate their veracity, corresponding bank statements showing the correct deposits, and a letter from his employer detailing his start date, his job title and his annual salary. It was triple-locked.You would also need to prove to the immigration authorities that your relationship is genuine. This would typically be achieved by providing your marriage certificate, correspondence between you and/or addressed to you two collectively, rent/utility bills showing cohabitation, and/or travel records like plane tickets or hotel bookings. What you send is up to you but a list of recommended types of evidence can be found on the Home Office’s site. For a married couple especially you’d be expected to show evidence of a sustained long-term commitment. What you’re expected to show varies depending on the specific type of settlement visa application you’re submitting. When you submit your full application (the generic application, an appendix specific to this type of settlement visa, and your supporting documents), you’ll provide biometric details and an ID photo. You’ll pay for both the visa application, which can run over £1,000 depending on how and where you submit it, and your NHS surcharge, which will need to be paid in full for a 2.5-year period, which is the duration of this initial settlement visa. The NHS surcharge would be, unless I’m mistaken, another £1,000 (the new annual £400 charge x 2.5 years). Unless you already have a large amount of savings, the visa process requires some financial planning ahead, potentially well in advance — I started saving for mine almost a year and a half before I actually submitted it.If this visa is approved, you’ll be able to join your spouse in the U.K. This visa would eventually be extended by another 2.5 years, and you’d need to submit the same sort of evidence you did the first time (and by this time you should have ample evidence of shared financial obligations and cohabitation). After 5 years (the two 2.5-year periods for the settlement visa), you’d be eligible for indefinite leave to remain. Once you have ILR, you’re eligible for naturalization after I think just another year (which is a perk the marrieds have over people in the U.K. long-term just for work). I believe you would need to have 5 years of unbroken long-term residency in the U.K. to qualify for this; you can’t marry a British citizen, live in the U.S. or Canada or wherever for those 5 years and qualify for indefinite leave to remain in the U.K.Generally speaking the application process was one of the most stressful things I’ve ever done. The thoroughness involved is staggering and you absolutely cannot cut corners of any sort. The financial aspect is eye-watering but the second-guessing and nitpicking of the application itself is worse. I think it gave me my first gray hair.

Will my file get rejected for Canada visa if I didnt submitted SOP (it was not mentioned in the list)?

You could have specified what visa type you applied for. ‘Canada visa’ is quite generic.Anyways, letter of explanation, popularly known as SOP, is usually not part of the mandatory documents. It's however important to attach it especially if your supporting documents need some additional explanation. So in short your application will most likely not be rejected simply because you didn't attach SOP. It could be rejected for several other reasons though.
