I said, “Well, mine do!” and they switched to announcing that children of this age are completely colour-blind, and simply don't notice racial difference. They finished up by hissing at me that children “only pick up attitudes like this in the home,” so that made it all my fault. And once they knew that my poor child was just the victim of terribly bigoted parenting, and it therefore wasn't his fault, they were quite happy to forgive him!Sheer stupidity, born of blind acceptance of fashionable anti-racist dogma, but it's not that unusual, unfortunately. And so there are simple statements of fact that may not be spoken.Sadly, the friendship between Ricky and my son was irreparably damaged. I don't think the entire episode did anything at all to improve racial harmony in their year group.
