Mostly that it’s likely unconstitutional. It’s a direct tax, and the constitution says that those must be apportioned among the states based on population. There might be a way around it, but I’m not fond of playing games with major policy initiatives and I am disappointed that neither Warren nor Sanders have addressed this directly. I have no sympathy with the people who claim that it’s going to impose enormous hardships on the wealthy because they’ll have to sell assets, etc., etc. Give me a couple of billion dollars and I’ll figure that out. It’s a lot easier than somebody trying to figure out a household budget on minimum wage.(more)
