Fred had every reason to believe he was going to inherit that wealth. When Fred was seventeen, a genetic heart condition put Fred's father in the hospital. Fred had his father screened by the doctors (going behind his father's protestations to do so) and the doctors alerted Fred that it was genetically impossible for him to be his father's biological son. Back Home( After leaving the hospital) Fred confronted his father about this news, Fred, Sr. dismissed this, claiming the doctors were wrong. When Fred demanded to know who his real parents were, Fred, Sr. feigned a heart attack. As Fred left to call an ambulance, Fred, Sr.ran to his study where he scribbled down a quick letter and grabbed a loaded pistol from his desk drawer. Fred found his father dead at his desk with blood pooling around a note which simply read, "I cannot go to prison for what I've done. I am sorry." Devastated by this, Fred put his entire inheritance into a trust fund, gave his "father" a pauper's funeral, and boarded up the Jones estate. After months of searching for his real family, Fred found no leads or clues of any kind. Fred passed on college despite a full-ride scholarship to play football. Instead, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, desperate to find a new sense of purpose and maybe a surrogate family. Fed's mix of wit and grit placed him in the Army Rangers program where he served as an armored transport driver.Fred would only be in the service for five years before he was discharged after his convoy was hit by a roadside IED and besieged by hostiles. Daphne comes from money and so did not want for much growing up. In school she was very popular and dated the high school quarterback and homecoming king. But much of that was a convincing lie. In college, she went to an internship interview held at one of the suites of the Bering Arms Hotel. When Daphne was leaving this interview,she had a close encounter with a spectral entity. Though Daphne was physically unharmed, the experience forced her to confront a repressed memory of another encounter with a ghost from her childhood. As a way to combat her fears, Daphne dedicated the next year of classes toward developing a minor in parapsychology. Coupled with her degree in journalism and her pretty smile, Daphne landed a job on Roy Raymond, Jr's "Impossible... But True" television series. Shaggy and his Uncle Chester were conducting an independent investigation of their own into the effects on local flora and fauna while Shaggy's Aunt Liz was looking into a string of old metahuman scares of the early 21st century. While just outside of Smallville, Kansas, the three encountered a farmer named Ben Hubbard who invited them back to his farm to show them his own experiments with using meteor rock enriched fertilizer on his alfalfa which he would then use to feed his cows. Though the cows were pretty unremarkably big and large, Shaggy became interested in the neighboring farm. What had drawn Shaggy in was he heard a puppy howling along with Mrs. Knittingham's singing crooner melodies while feeding her chickens. Shaggy inquired as to how she taught the puppy to do that and Mrs. Knittingham explained she hadn't trained the dog to do anything, he just seemed to enjoy music. Shaggy and the widow Mrs. Knittingham talked a bit longer and Shaggy learned that this pup was the runt of its litter and had gone unbought for weeks after all his siblings were bought within days, Shaggy decided to buy the pup. Later that night, while discussing names for the pup with his aunt and uncle in the car, the dog began to hum along with the radio. Shaggy took notice and turned the radio up in time to hear the closing riff of the closing riff of of Strangers In The Night, prompting the pup to belt out his own approximation of the words and so Shaggy decided that was his name Scooby. Then one day not knowing how, the bond between man and pup had developed considerably. The residual mystical energies from Shaggy( You find out some of his ancestors are Atlantean sorcerer’s) had enriched this bond more so and Scooby had become Shaggy's familiar, transformed into a creature that was more than a pup of above-average intelligence. In his free time, Fred began using his know-how and inheritance to retrofit an old motorhome with top-of-line parts, such as a luxury interior, an armored exterior, and a variety of parts from the Army-Navy surplus. Fred's plan was to use this as his mobile base on his quest to find his real parents. However, before he had finished it,Daphne Blake stumbled upon the vehicle and offered to pay Fred to finish it. Daphne stayed with Fred while he was putting the finishing touches on the machine, and he ended up taking a liking to Daphne. Instead of selling the vehicle, Fred offered to drive the machine until Daphne or her team were more comfortable with its handling. As her parents were active in the community and worked long hours, Sally was often left with her grandmother on weekends and in the after-school hours of her day. Sally's maternal grandmother was a free-spirited woman who lived on one of the oldest lots in Oakhaven. Supposedly her grandmother's grandma was a holistic/herbal healer who ran a clinic of sorts in the shadow of an old oak tree (the actual oakin "Oakhaven") on that very lot, and Sally's grandmother kept the tradition alive. When Sally wasn't jamming out to her grandmother's oldies collection, she was climbing that oak tree or reading a book in its shade while her grandmother concocted herbal tinctures and saw to her patients. When Sally was sixteen, her father caught her kissing a neighbor girl. Blaming this behavior on her grandmother's influence, Sally was sent to a nearby Christian boarding school, Saint Elias School for Girls. It seems obvious that Dr. McKnight didn't account for the effect an authoritarian religious all-girl school would have on his bi-curious daughter. In the course of two and a half years, Sally went from shy, reserved free-spirit who said her prayers every night to bold pansexual goth rocker practicing witchcraft. After graduation,Sally (now calling herself Thorn) rejected her father's offer to pay for college so she could hit the road with her coven sisters and bandmates, Dusk and Luna.Scrapping enough money together from their early shows to buy a van with a painted mural on the side, the coven hit the road, taking their rock act "The Hex Girls" to clubs and festival. Thorn remained the front woman for the band while also doing lead vocals and playing lead guitar. Every so often the coven would find themselves pulled into an adventure while taking care of an errand for their Friend Vincent Van Ghoul or to satiate their own occult curiosity. It was during this time where the girls' talent as sorceresses began to diverge, each one of them bringing something else to the coven. Thorn developed a more seductive approach than the others,often bleeding her mystical allure into her musical performance for live shows, entrancing audiences with sound, mind, and sex sorcery. She also mastered plant magic, feeling it made sense with her name being 'Thorn' and as a subtle nod to her family's history as herbalists and florists. Margaret is the only child of William St. James and Mary Belmont, who were married for a brief time before their volatile mix of personalities caused their relationship to implode. Their daughter was neglected in the divorce proceedings, only really used as a pawn and trophy in the various power plays that followed throughout the girl's formative years. When the divorce was over, the two parents tried to rebuild their life, only then to discover that they had nearly lost their daughter. Margaret, or "Muffy" as her father called her,had become a rebellious youth in a desperate bid for attention and began hanging out with some sketchy kids, particularly when staying with her mother in Gotham City. On one such summer in Gotham, Muffy and her friends were caught stealing from a corner bodega. As they tried to escape, the clerk caught Muffy by the wrist. One of Muffy's friends struck the clerk to aid her escape. The clerk fought back, pinning Muffy's rescuer to the wall. Rather than abandon her friend, Muffy grabbed a nearby mop and struck the clerk in the back of the head. The man would be hospitalized and Muffy was arrested five days later when the man was able to identify her. Using some of his political clout, Muffy's father got his daughter released from juvenile detention and placed in his care on the condition she attend a reform school.Muffy was sent to Saint Elias School for Girls. Muffy toed the line on her probation agreement. She did everything she was required to do to stay out of juvenile detention, but continued to press her luck by pushing her teachers' buttons whenever she could. As she was attending an uptight religious school, she befriended the school's weird girl (Luna) and the two decided to play the part of the gothic rebel witches, eventually taking on new names and recruiting a third( Thorn) to start a rock band. After graduation, Muffy (now called "Dusk") dismissed any notion of higher education. She barely passed high school and was more interested in hitting the road as a rock band with her coven sisters, and furthering her mystical study. Kim spent most of her life as an only child.She was taken to church every week by her deeply religious mother. Her father was much more secular. Though Kim enjoyed the spiritual aspect of religion, she did not always agree with its restrictions and philosophy. Looking for a faith that better suited her own innate beliefs, Kim began to explore alternative religions. When she came upon Wiccan culture, she began experimenting with that and other pre-Christian pagan belief systems. Not enjoying this side of her daughter, Kim's mother insisted that Kim be sent to Saint Elias School for Girls. Kim's own mother had graduated from there and convinced Kim's father to join her in signing off on the idea. At the aforementioned private school, Kim was actually relieved to be out of her parents' house.She engaged in a deeper experimentation to find her true self and further explored Wiccan culture. When she met the rebel girl Muffy, Kim discovered a whole new side of herself she didn't know existed. The two girls became best friends, with Muffy showing Kim how to let loose and Kim teaching Muffy the Wiccan rites and practices. The two also had ambitions of becoming a rock band, even though they had only begun to play as a means of venting their stress. Muffy and Kim even became teenage lovers for a time before adding Sally McKnight to their musical trio. The three girls' friendship soon became something else as they became a true coven, devoted to the service of their friend Vincent Van Ghoul.
