Sometimes it includes Reading, but other times it doesn’t.Why did I decide to teach this?The answer I’m SUPPOSED to give is that I love reading and writing and I wanted to teach it to others.But that’s only like 25% of the reason.The main reason I teach English is because by the time I realized I wanted to be a teacher, it was the shortest path to teaching. I minored in English as an undergrad, and got my Master’s in teaching several years later. I originally wanted to teach science. But that would have required an extra year of grad school. I was in my late 20s by then, married, with a child and bills to pay. Three years of grad school wasn’t an option.It all worked out. I enjoy teaching English, and I’m good at it. No complaints.
