What is the procedure to get an abortion for an unmarried girl in India? What are some good clinics in Pune, Mumbai, or Delhi to get an abortion?

I am a 27 years old unmarried girl from Delhi. I have recently got an abortion done. I was 6 weeks pregnant. Here's how it began:I missed my periods and when more than 10 days passed, I decided to do a Urine Pregnancy Test (UPT) at home. There were two dark pink lines on the strip which confirmed my pregnancy. I informed my boyfriend and we were speechless for sometime. I wasn't really sure whether my boyfriend was going to stand by or make an easy escape like most men do. Fortunately, he did the former. He calmed me down and apologized profusely for not being careful enough.Since my boyfriend is a doctor, he could procure Mifepristone and Misoprostol kit easily. There's a lot of information on the internet about how these pills work and everything else; so I am not going to delve into this. But yes, I decided to stay at my boyfriend's place while this entire process went on. This was because heavy bleeding and pain are two most commonly expected effects of taking these pills (On an average, this is double the pain and bleeding that you undergo during periods. Could be more or even less depending on individual cases.). I didn't want to go through all this in front of my parents as then they would have forced me to go to the doctor and everything would have been out.In my case, even after taking four Misoprostol tablets, I neither experienced heavy pain nor bleeding. Also, the moderately painful cramps and nausea started right after taking the tablets; and not after 2–4 hours. A few lumps came out twice along with the blood. By next afternoon, it turned bearable. This is where the problem began. Since there wasn't any heavy bleeding, I got worried if the embryo has been expelled completely or not. So my boyfriend and I went to a gynaecologist. She is a wonderful lady named Ms. Tejashree Shrorti. Dealt with everything quite professionally and advised us to get an ultrasound done. (I have mentioned her name because some gynaecologists do tend to take advantage of pre-marital pregnancies by charging exorbitantly high fees. Not to forget the shaming and snide remarks. Someone in need may find her on Practo and contact her.)Here's where my nightmare started. I called up a reputed diagnostics and imaging centre in Yusuf Sarai, Delhi. The lady in the ultrasound department enquired if it's the case of pregnancy. I said yes and then she instructed me to get an Aadhar card. The prescription must have the DMC number, signature and the stamp of the doctor.I told her I don't have an Aadhar card and she said USG cannot be allowed without an Aadhar card. I talked to her a bit firmly and told her that Aadhar is not mandatory until the Supreme Court comes with another verdict. Refusing to deliver crucial diagnostic services because of no Aadhar can result in legal implications for them. Then, she told me to get any valid id proof; but along with the Aadhar card of my husband. I was dumbfounded that a lady working in a diagnostic centre had such unrealistic assumptions that only married women could be pregnant and get a USG. I disconnected and called my boyfriend and narrated the conversation I had with this lady to my boyfriend. He, then called the centre and gave them a piece of his mind. His position as a doctor in one of India's most reputed government hospitals did give our case an edge. It would have been difficult had there been a commoner in such a situation. So, this lady called me up and told me to come with a valid id proof and the prescription for the USG.I thought everything will be sorted now. I went to the centre and was told to fill a registration form. I used the prefix Ms in front of my name and left the column for father's/husband’s name blank. The guy at the desk looked at me completely baffled and asked:“Madam you are Ms. or Mrs. You have come for pregnancy test.”Me: Please use Ms. It is a universal prefix for women. He was still under shock. So while entering the details from the form into his database, he retorted again--“Ms. pakka hai madam!”I said yes. Then, he asked me for husband's name. I said I want to leave that column blank as I am an adult woman and my consent should be enough. He said it's not according to our procedures and somebody's name has to be there. I had to relent after arguing for 20 minutes and gave my boyfriend's name.Later, another lady came to me to have the consent form filled. She had the same questions, “why Ms. and why not Mrs?” The kind of looks and the tone of questions and comments made me feel mortified to the core. They were supposed to do their duty instead of arguing over my marital status. So, when I emphasized and told her to continue using Ms., she said she will have to go and confirm with her senior. I was livid. I went after her and barged into their room. I asked her that she needs to verify these personal details from me and not her senior. She was visibly flummoxed and tried to cover it up by saying, “madam duty par hun, samajh nahi aayega kuchh toh senior se toh consult karenge.” I asked her does she think if her senior would know about my personal details better than I know. Seeing me getting this angry, the departmental head took me and the lady-attendant to her room.I asked her to check Google and read about the use of Ms. She said, “madam Mrs. laga lo baat khatam karo. Aapka bhi time bachega hamara bhi. Derr karne ka koi fayda nahi. Hamara software Mrs. hi accept karta hai.”I argued quite a lot and she did not have reasonable answers to my questions and statements. In the end she gave me the option of either to use Mrs. or come tomorrow. I relented and they put Mrs. in front of my name.My USG was done and the report was handed over to me in the next one hour. This incident is a lesson that being unmarried and pregnant in India is a nightmare. People who don't even know you will judge you and it's not easy to put up a fight everywhere.
