Firstly thanks for A2A. I have been doing competitive programming for the past 3 years now. This is how it helps me which still makes me stick to it.As a programmer - Competitive programming makes you a very strong programmer. You become proficient in your programming language over time, and have very good implementation skills. You will notice that you can solve Div 2 250's of TC and Div 2 A of CF in 4-5 minutes regularly, i.e. it builds your understanding and comprehensive skills. Debugging doesn't seems so difficult now, there are hacking and challenging phases in CF and TC which makes you good "reader" of codes( yes, this helped me a lot in my internships when I had to find bugs in some other peoples code). You can write quick and more importantly neat and efficient codes now.As a researcher - If you practice difficult problems, competitive programming also helps you learn different kinds of DS and algorithms. There are many things I learned through sports programming which otherwise I would not have, because they were skipped in my course lectures - be it Binary Indexed Trees, Segment Trees or basic math like sieve of Eratosthenes. Knowing them and trying to apply them on different problems, you start thinking of new possibilities to make it more efficient and use it in different day to day life problems. All these gives new dimensions to your research abilities.Socially stronger - Competitive programming introduces you to lot many people which gives you a chance to interact with the "geeky" world around you. 99% of my friends from other colleges have come up from CF/CC/TC discussion forums and blogs. You get to learn new things from them and congratulations!!! You just made an employee referral to some tech giant company (especially if you belong to not-so-reputed colleges).Enriches personality - I have always enjoyed participating in programming contest. The adrenalin pumping in the first 20 minutes makes things very exciting for me and this is also important for people who are not so much involved in sports. It has made me more patient, every time I get stuck in some problem I try to find ways to get out of it. I find many of my friends get frustrated and irritated very quickly. You can also use it as a brain exercise solving simple easy puzzles via codes. It makes you mentally tougher and challenging when you don't get a solution AC even after trying night long.Placements and interviews - Most of the companies lay more emphasis on DS, algorithms and coding skills. CGPA hardly matters to tech giants. In fact most of them have a base cut off of around 7, after that, all that matters is your coding skills. Competitive programming makes you stronger in these. Speaking of my college, all the best pay packages went to people who did competitive programming.I feel that all the above mentioned factors makes an individual a good computer science engineer. So competitive programming is really important in a life of computer science engineer. However readers may note that :Competitive programming is not a sufficient condition to become a good computer science engineer. In fact, it is not even necessary.Competitive programming is best enjoyed when there is actually a "competition" among friends in close proximity. So you should make friends with people with close (possibly a bit higher) ratings. Do not try to compete with people like Petr or tourist, you will always lose. And do not try to compete alone, it'll be boring.You should always give it a try, but if you don't find it interesting, even after a month or two, stop it. Life has endless possibilities. You should search for the one which suits you.

Hitler liked the Jews about as much as I like my school. It's really heaven…People will be nice to you, as long as you are rich, white, a bully, snobby, douchey, and are funny in the absolute worst ways possible.We are nationally ranked as a top school in America, but literally everyone who goes there, albeit a few high-achieving exceptions, cannot wait to leave. Even the popular douchebags realize how much of a shithole this place is.You can't make a sports team unless you are a collegiate-level athlete. 29 kids got cut from JV basketball this year, and we cut dozens for the boys’ volleyball team.It has been practically impossible to start a club here for two years. The announcements never say when the clubs are meeting either, so you can barely even join decent clubs unless you're in a class with a teacher who runs one.ROACHES!!! Our school has been infested with roaches, rats and water bugs the length of your palm for decades now. Along with the fact that 98% of the classrooms in the building don't have AC, the school is just deteriorating in general. One of the other schools in my county, which is now considered one of the worst in NY due to the exploits of the Hasidic Jews on the school board for decades, was actually in a similar condition to mine when I visited for an academic team match.“The Land of No Opportunities” - Almost all the organizations I participate in are run exclusively by seniors or overzealous juniors. Underclassmen are provided with very little opportunities to gain experience in anything.My school actually has very good teachers, for the most part. Unfortunately, the most dedicated and passionate teachers are often deprived of materials, support, and funding that they request to make our experience even better. Some classrooms are stocked with some of the most cutting-edge edutech on Earth, while others are reminiscent of one out of an 80’s movie.I don't have many good things to say about my school. Some of these things are out of anyone's control, while other problems can be improved if administrators work hard to combat them. I hope people read this and think twice about sending their children to a highly ranked school just due to its prestige. Talk to KIDS who have recently attended the school about how their experience was. Their parents’ opinions about the school don't mean jack shit. Seriously.

I will be very honest with my review.My answer may look a bit biased but trust me I will tell u what I myself experienced during my stay till date.I am a 2018 batch CS student , got 28k air in jee main and got this college by choice (no other option left for IIT/top nits).I cannot believe 2016 established college can be so developed (all due to due to NIT JAMSHEDPUR mentorship)There will be no discrimination and u may get chance to sit with NIT JAMSHEDPUR students in placements and will be a great opportunity.There might be a separate cell for IIIT if we remain here for next 2 yrs but its probability is low.Official strenght of 120 ,118 reported finally which is a great achievement for a new institute.Here goes the story:● InfrastructureI would say still not even boundary work is completed on the land…so we enjoy here in NIT campus.NIT jsr is awesome in terms of infrastructure. There is AC in libraries, proper gym for students, sports coach for students, lan in hostels (working 7 out of 7 days) also an swimming pool and a smart class !! what else u expect..There is a separate classroom for IIIT R students in computer centre that has AC that cools like as if its winter season.U pay just 10.68 lakhs fee and u get so many facilities that any top NIT/IIIT should have.There is a swimming pool in NIT Jsr where u can enjoy in summerIts open all 7 days from 5pm to 9pmSundays: from 7 am to 9 pm.Here is a glimpse of it.We also have state of the art gym facilities open from 6 am to 9 pm whole week.Here are few pics:Be ready to get muscular.●Hostel and messWe share rooms with NIT students.Hostel rooms are very spaceous (3 students in a 6 seater room) with 3 pair of table and a chair .There is a common room with a TV(with loud speakers), TT table , carrom board only, chess , pool and all indoor games u like to play +50mbps wifi.We also organise regular lan/online gaming events within the hostels and at college level . Games like pubg are in trending here.There is a proper shower in each bathroom and hygiene is well maintained.There are no power cuts and power backup is there in hostels in case of faliure.Lan port given in each room per student which is blazing fast ,speed upto 100 mbps on an average gives 50 mbps any time.Mess is where I can say NIT jsr has upper hand..u get 3 days yummy butter chicken/fish curry a week .food is hygenic and fresh.U will enjoy ur stay here.●FacultiesMost of the faculties are from NIT jamshedpur which are very talented and experienced.We also recently recruited some :>They charge 1.8 lakh per yr tution fee and give IIT level faculties which is amazing.How can u attract sound faculties by paying 30k rs a month…. and this is the case with most private colleges. … pheww we are blessed with awesome faculties.●CurriculumWe have one of the most modern and advanced curriculum which lays emphasis on practical learning +research rather than rote learning which is common in UPTU and other pappu bablu colleges. Even NITs don't have such an advanced curriculum.Other IIITs like sricity, kottayam, dharwad also have very modern cs curriculum like of IIIT H.As we have our own director we have all autonomy to decide our own curriculum.●Senior junior interactionHere I am really proud to say that we have got the most supportive seniors u could wver imagine…There is Zero ragging in IIIT ranchi.We along with our seniors are trying hard to develop our new institute with a good coding culture, sports team and other activities.We have a whatsapp coding group in which seniors help us with coding problems to freshers.They even leave their classes for us to teach programming .There is no ragging in NIT JAMSHEDPUR and our seniors knew it well thats why they always encourage us to interact with NIT Jsr 3rd and 4th yrs…how sweetWe can immediately report to IIIT seniors if any senior tries to contact us or calls us for intro but thats a rare case.U will rarely get such supportive seniors in any college.●Gender ratioThere are 15 girls out of 100 ,thats 1:5.66 ratio.Even IITs don't have such an impressive ratio.●College environmentHere at NIT jsr there are a lot of trees and plants so u will enjoy greenery around the college. Monsoon comes with plenty of rain not like delhi .Air quality is also lot better here compared to delhi ncr.NIT Jsr seniors have created a Facebook page named OjassU can see it here:https://m.facebook.com/Ojassnitjamshedpur/?ref=content_filterOjass is the annua technomanagement fest of NIT Jsr which is full of creativity and innovation. U will get to learn a lot of new stuff. Being a student of IIIT R u can awail all the benefits of this fest.●AttendanceHere at NIT jsr u will be amazed to know that there is no strict rule though 75% is official but 40% is enough…faculties are very liberal.●.PlacementsU will most probably get an opportunity to sith with NIT students in campus placements and there will be no discrimination at all. After all NIT JAMSHEDPUR is mentor institute which will support IIIT RANCHI as much as it can till its fully established.What else u want.Special note: There are talks to shift the campus by 2019 due to lack of rooms in NIT jst(though not confirmed yet) .Its very uncertain for now where we will stay later in 2019.But one thing is sure: placements will be conducted in NIT JAMSHEDPUR only all IIIT students will be eligible to sit there satisfying cgpa criteria. (7+)screenshot of the fee structure of IIIT R:Now here is a complete summary of breakdown :Digital campus: They charge 4000 RS per yr in the name of digital campus .and provide all basic facilities like online attendance check,biometric attendance,digital library system ( most of the private colleges do not have), cashless payemt system throught the campus, free wifi in the campus,etc.NIT jsr is awesome. .Library: They charge 4000 per yr for library and its really worth it. They provide all the necessary books for the exam unlike private colleges where they will give u nothing but s*** .u will get all the required books at the begening of the semester itself. More than 4 lakh books , u will never feel short of books.U can issue 8 books at a time and keep it for a period of 3 months without any fine .Forgot to mention ,there is facility like AC ,digital book issue machine…all u need in a modern library.Library is open 24×7 which u will not find in most private colleges.Student welfare and sports: They only charge you 3000/yr in total but give u everything any IIT/NIT/IIIT student deserve. U will get all indoor games equipment in the hostels itself and if anything is missing just register that and within 3 days that item is brought.All hostels are equipped with a common state of the art gym having 5 treadmills and other bodybuilding machines provided a trainer with 5 days on job.Many of my friends have made at least 4 packs except me…Tution fee: They charge a fee of just 180000/yr per student only and provide u so many facilities an NITan/IIITan should get .U can urself calculate how much of the money government gives apart from our fees.IN SHORT ITS A FULL PAISA VASOOLNITs/IIITs are established to run as a not for profit self sustainable institutions and it is achieving its goal.There is a very good example of IIIT G .It now its own permanent campus , own faculties and is charging hefy fees.IIIT G is not even 70% of IIIT R. U may say former is 5 yrs old while the latter is only 2 but believe me it will not provide u such an amazing facilities.●●PROS ABOUT THIS COLLEGE:There are some awesome things which u will get here despite being estd. in 2016 only because of NIT JAMSHEDPUR mentorship. U get exposure to all the events and happenings in an well established govt. college like NIT JAMSHEDPUR .U will get all the facilities of NIT jsr like any Ex NIT student will get.U will get chance to participate in the cultural and technical events of NIT Jsr.Also u can enjoy all the annual fests which is being conducted by NIT jsr . U can also get inducted in various sports teams of NIT Jsr without any discrimination.In short u can enjoy all the perks of being an NITian .U will get an old NIT college environment with 40k rank in jee main which is very advantageous .Plus the competitive enviroment here will make ur life aims/goals much higher than an ex private college student . Though hostel tenders are already out and we may be shifted to any private accommodation outside campus with classes at NIT only but at least for next 1 yr , we are staying here only.■special point : If u observe past 2 yr cutoff trends then u will notice that colleges like IIIT Ranchi,Sricity,guwahati,naya raipur ,kottayam are on the rise with lower jee main AIR closing while slower developing IIITs Kota have observed a rise in the closing ranks as compared to 2017.Jee main cutoff 2017:IIIT G CSE:31kIIIT SRICITY :28kIIIT KOTTAYAM:58kIIIT RANCHI :41kIIIT KOTA:18kJee main cutoff 2018:IIIT G:28kIIIT S:25kIIIT R:37kIIIT KOTTAYAM :42KIIIT KOTA:33kU can see the difference above who has per formed better.All are IIITs with equal funds being granted 128 crore by center +state +private partner but see how management is different.IIIT RANCHI director and seniors are doing all they can to raise this college to a world class institution.Final note: If u r planning to take admission in 2019 then i would suggest u to pack ur bags and come here without a second thought.for private colleges like JIIT/LNMIIT/TIET they are well established with good placement records but match nowhere in terms of infrastructure & facilities which NIT jamshedpur is providing . IIIT R permanent campus need more years to get well established but if u want the prestigious IIIT tag to show off to ur friends & family and stay at NIT JAMSHEDPUR campus then u r most welcome here .U WILL INDIRECTLY GET NIT JAMSHEDPUR BY OPTING IIIT RANCHI IN AN EASIER WAY.I will be updating my answer as I collect more experiences during my stay at NIT jsr.Do ask for any query related to IIIT R.What do you think/know about IIIT RANCHI ???
