I've heard variations of bad questions in so many industries, that I've put them into some categories:The "I actually don't want to do this job" questions:We don't have to [insert duty that would need to be performed every day] at this job, do we?How quickly would I be promoted from [entry level job they are qualified for] because I really want to work as a [mid level job they are unqualified for]?Can I work part time/work from home? [when the work needs to be done on-site]I don't think that doing [valuable work the company needs done] is important, would I be able to pass that work off to someone else in this role?The "I didn't do my research or my research is so wrong that the interviewer questions if I know what job I'm applying for" questions:If I assume [completely incorrect assumption A], then that means that this job would entail [a long description that has nothing to do with the job, company and in some cases, industry.]?I read an article about [insert competitor] and I see that your company is doing this new thing [that the company is not doing, because the candidate is talking about a competitor.] How would that impact my job?The "you didn't realize it when you looked at my resume, but my last job and qualifications are drastically different from what you need" questions:At my last job I really didn't enjoy doing [task that is the reason the interviewer called them in], how much of my workday will be spent doing that task?I worked with a budget of [10 times the budget they will get at their new role] and I found that more was needed and that without [2 times more money], this role will be ineffective, how much priority do you give to [insert job function that will drain all cash from the department and give very little ROI.]?The "I want to drop buzzwords, or name-drop because I think that will make me look smarter, savvier, or perhaps hipper than the other candidates" questions:How does your company work with [buzzword that is irrelevant to the job]?I noticed that your CEO [insert wrong CEO, mis-pronounce CEO's name or simply don't know the CEO's name] is doing [anything, because at this point the interviewer has stopped listening so we will never find out the end to this question.]The "if I keep talking and say hip things, then nobody will realize that this isn't a question" question:My main focus has been [insert theoretical concept] , and with the [insert word that doesn't make sense], [moustaches] and [buzzword] that is prevalent in [insert large geographical area, large industry segment or big numbers] what would my options be for [buzzword] in [buzzword] and for [insert flashy conference that the company has no intention of this role attending], will this role allow me to [insert pretentious claim]?

Put aside all the daft conspiracy theories for a second and simply imagine what would happen if you decided to make yourself mortgage free tomorrow. It's a reasonable goal and there are two routes to achieve this.The first way is to carefully cut back all spending, find novel ways to increase your income, maybe take extra jobs, and over pay until your mortgage is gone. It's hard work and will likely take 5 to 10 years.The second way is to simply stop paying your mortgage. You'll be fine for a while but then find that your bank will likely repossess your house. No house means renting another place to live which means you not only have to pay out more money, but you'll never have anything to show for it.The first way is a process. The second way is an event.The first way is hard work. The second way is easy, but has some nasty consequences (and will be hard work for a much longer time).Unpicking a trillion pound economy from deep political, legal and trade relationships is a difficult thing to do. It's been promised as an event when every competent player in this knows it's a process. A very long process.In the mortgage analogy, you've been promised that if you stop paying your mortgage you'll have lots of freedoms. It's just the nazi, overbearing, evil banking organisation that's doing you down and taking your freedom (rather than your own rather dumb and short sighted actions).Brexit isn't being made hard. It is hard. As a nation we've dodged all the planning and hard work and must now face the consequences.No stirring patriotic fervor, dumb conspiracy theories, overblown rhetoric or reduction of nations to childish caricatures can alter reality.It isn't being blocked, reality is simply getting in the way of the promises. What might have been 5 to 10 years of (unpalatable) hard work will now be decades, possibly generations, of struggle, arguments, decline and bitter politics.EDITThere have been a number of interesting responses to this post so thank you for the support. Even those whose comments I might disagree with have been respectful and interesting. From this I conclude that there is hope for the UK…I’d like to deal with the comments and answer them here as they form 3 general patterns:1) This is a lousy analogy because [insert reason here].Yep - any analogy is lousy because it can only ever be used to explain a narrow aspect of the larger problem. The map is never the territory. Brexit is like a mortgage, an insurance policy, a jilted lover, Helen Keller fingering a squirrel or even a frozen turd dipped in custard and force fed to Marcel Marceau. It’s also clearly not those things when you go beyond whatever point you’re making. All analogies are rather stupid because the EU, Brexit, the UK and international relations are actually quite complex…2) You’re wrong because in actual fact it’s the [insert nazi entity here] that’s actually done [insert appalling punitive behaviour here] to [insert poor hard done by entity here].If you need to invent bogeymen and/or reduce things to the actions of simplistic cartoon villains, by definition your argument is invalid when applied to real world complexity. You simply demonstrate why there is so little agreement over Brexit.3) The [insert whatever you think opposes you here] made wild claims so why should we believe anything they say.Well, skepticism is a good thing. It’s a shame that the wild claims (some printed on buses) didn’t attract some real skepticism rather than drooling acceptance by seemingly unthinking accolytes. What If I tell you that you can track your xiaomi/mi smartphone if it ever gets lost.So here is the trick:When you buy a new xiaomi/mi smartphone, the phone asks you to Sign up or log in to your MI account.After signing up / logging in, the device asks for permission to send messages to verify the inserted simsAfter permission is granted the device sends sms to MI servers in order to activate and verify sim cards inserted in your device.But after you setup device and start using it you forget everything about your mi account and it’s purpose.If by chance you lose your phone or it gets stolen. You just file a complain and keeps cursing yourself.ButBut if you would have paid attention at the time of MI account registration while setup, you could have tracked your phone.Here are the steps that needs to be followed to track your lost/stolen phone:Browse to Mi CloudNow login with the credentials that you created or used while setting up MI account on your phone.After logging in you will find the following screen.Now click on Find Device after which the next page will show the location of device, if the your device status is online. Otherwise it will show last updated location. It will also show the numbers activated/ sim inserted in your device.If your device is showing offline (Because the thief or whoever has found the phone switches it off) then wait for few days. If it still do not shows as online, then do check the mobile no. of sims inserted in the devices.There are 95% chances that whoever has the device, will insert his/her sim in the device after waiting for some days. And the device will send an activation sms to the MI server and will update the new number in MI cloud. Booom……..you will get the culprit.This system is hard coded into device in such a way that even after factory resetting the device multiple times, the culprit will not be able to use the device without entering the password of the MI account which was used while initial setup.True story this was how I nabbed the thief that stole my sister’s phone while travelling from home to her office.After theft the device was switched off. But I kept patience and didn’t disabled/locked it through MI cloud to make it unusable for the thief.Although I filed an FIR with police but we all know they do nothing.So, on the 3rd day, the thief switched the device on after inserting his own sim card. Eventually he was a student in a local college in our area. So I though may be he didn’t stole it but found it, but now is not in a mood to return because who would not love a 25000 bucks device as a freebie.Next day, I left him a message on whatsapp calling him with his name and threatening him to either handover the phone or I will come to his college and it will become worse for him.He called me in the evening and said that he was sorry and he just found the phone in the auto (My sis was travelling in shared auto), and he will return the device immediately.
