As 6th grade neared the end of the year, our teacher had organized an excursion to the local Cadbury Chocolate Factory in the city.The whole class became mesmerized with the idea. I was actually salivating watching them wiz past me on the assembly line. There was a large woman sitting on a seat over-watching the fast moving ‘conveyor’. We made eye contact and she dropped a Mars Bar practically at my feet. I picked it up and gave it back to her. She shook her head as if I had done something wrong. A few seconds later she did it again and I handed it back again.The third time ‘it fell off’ I realized what she was doing and put it in my pocket. She looked at me and gave me a big smile. On the bus going back to school I shared it with my seat mate to his delight.These days when I see a Mars Bar I have a little chuckle to myself and remember the kindness of an old lady.
