Thanks for A2A.Why do people sell templates online if you can just inspect the page and copy it?Many of the document templates (in Word) that I create contain complex linking, formatting and macros so that if you wanted to purchase a Statutory Declaration or blank Will from me, what you would see on screen would only give you the basic wording of a blank form. Automatic page counting and inbuilt listing functions wouldn’t be available.If you’re sufficiently adept at using Word properly, you can probably copy what’s on display and rebuild the rest for yourself. As the actual wording that’s incorporated in such a document is defined by Statute I can’t claim copyright over that wording, and therefore can’t stop you from using it.If I’m selling such templates at $5 per unit, I’m only going to put up a PDF so that none of the macro functionality or other automation is available.
