You didn’t give the specifications of the other computer, so we don’t know if the specs of the RAM or the HDD you want to move over, we can’t know if it’s compatible or not. But the 8600 maximum RAM capacity is only 2GB. You’ll need dozens of Device and System Drivers to boot the machine so it utilizes all it functions to its fullest potential. You’ll need the CD that accompanied the laptop when you purchased it to reinstall them. If you don’t have it, I recommend calling Dell and give them the Service Tag on the bottom of the laptop so they can either direct you to the Dell website so you can download whatever you need to acquire the latest Drivers.
