PDF Editor FAQ

When PETA says "We are all animals. End speciesism. Live vegan." do they not realize that animals eat each other? (I walk by the billboard at 40th Street and 7th Avenue with Joaquin Phoenix every day.)

Tim Searchinger, of the WRI and Princeton University, said: “If we tried to produce all the food needed in 2050 using today’s production systems, the world would have to convert most of its remaining forest, and agriculture alone would produce almost twice the emissions allowable from all human activities.”Is everyone at PETA Vegan?Do I have to be vegetarian or vegan to work for PETA/FSAP? Some of our positions do require you to be vegan (e.g., all positions related to campaigns, fundraising and development, and media spokespeople). However, many roles do not require this. We look for compassionate people to work for the organization.I am not vegan, but I can promise you that I consume a very small amount of anything if I do not fully know where it comes from. I try to limit any meat intake by So below are my reasons why PETA are both good and sometimes not so good or misguided, along with its mission statement, and even a link to the charity evaluator board, what they rate it as a charity and there you can also look at and read the most recent financial statements to the IRS and REALLY know what the money goes towards. They would be really big hypocrites if they did not at least make you think about turning Vegan…so the billboard you walk byPETA is an extremists charity, They would be really big hypocrites if they did not at least make you think about turning Vegan…so the billboard you walk by is aimed at trying to make people both think about and hopefully become a vegan. Yeah I KNOW they know animals eat animals..and I know you know this. However eventually we are not going to be able to eat animals. PETA knows this, and also knows that the fact our world is becoming severely overpopulated at a high rate, we are not able to sustain it. Animals eating animals is called the circle of life, they do not normally eat each other into extinction, hunt for sport, make anything suffer the way we do, or be excessive in wasting animals, throwing away perfectly good food, cause they are “too full”, then go a couple of hours and order or cook more meat as a human does. Our habits and gluttonous ways might be able to be supported if there were not so many people, but alas, unlike animals, we do not have a predator. WE as a human race are responsible for the mass human deaths each year that is from our own recklessness, greed(the most of the world having so much money they could never spend it all you know the one-percenters while others starve )or senseless violence or actually killing ourselves or others. Outside of that it is just nature like natural disasters and eventual illness that we have not yet found cures for(and as harsh as it might sound perhaps were not meant to find cures for, because if more people were dying at least the population of the world is in some way going in its own natural circle!)DO animals do any of these things? This is PETA's stance, its point, and its reason for the extremes they take. Now all that in mind I do list below again links and some cons about PETA and I am not a vegan. If you continue to read below I am still taking steps to go meat-free, I am however very aware of where I get my meat from, and I think being vegan is necessary, but yes I will miss a burger or tacos as much as anyone, but if you just are not excessive in your lifestyle and you push the places you buy off of to smarten up and not waste, and not order those eight types of meat on every pizza you sure are helping and trust me you can live without it.So animals eating other animals is not PETA's problem…PETA is trying to show the world we have two major problems,Overpopulation of people who do not bother to discipline themselves into having a smaller impact on the world they live in, and we have no impactful plans in place or laws enforced to change that attitude and wastefulness.2. Big food franchise and companies that test on animals because obviously it is unethical, and it WASTES animals' lives further, franchises like Macdonalds or steakhouses that throw out all kinds of meat that is not cooked right, dropped on the floor, or just not eaten on the pates. OR the 100 MILLION animals that the research companies and scientists torture and kill for household products, cosmetics, and “medicine”((when studies have shown using animals is normally inconclusive and further research is always needed on HUMANS no matter what in the end anyhow, OR the actual real and ethical way of either using human volunteers or they can grow human tissues now they do not need to be doing this!! ))How many animals die a year from animal testing? 100 million animalsEach year, more than 100 million animals—including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds—are killed in U.S. laboratories for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing. How does eating meat affect the environment?Livestock farming has a vast environmental footprint. It contributes to land and water degradation, biodiversity loss, acid rain, coral reef degeneration, and deforestation. Nowhere is this impact more apparent than climate change – livestock farming contributes 18% of human-produced greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.I am going to answer this question differently than most others normally would or do. I am going to demonstrate the pros and cons, giving you many informative links and pictures, just so if you did not already know, you will by the time you finish reading this. Like anything in life pros and cons are in many decisions. We as a whole collective people have to at some point understand that no one or nothing can be 100 percent perfect, PETA is most certainly not, however they do stand for things that need attention. I am going to list links to many things they have done I do not fully agree with, or at least not the way they decided to act on those things.Speciesism' is the idea that being human is a good enough reason for human animals to have greater moral rights than non-human animals. ...a prejudice or bias in favor of the interests of members of one's own species and against those of members of other species.Ethical living is the philosophy of making decisions for daily life which take into account ethics and moral values, particularly with regard to consumerism, sustainability, environmentalism, wildlife, and animal welfare. At present, it is largely a personal choice and not an organized social movement. The IPCC aka The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (Since the pre-industrial era, the land surface air temperature has risen by 1.53 degrees Celsius, twice as much as the global average temperature (0.87C), causing more heatwaves, droughts, and heavy rain, as well as land degradation and desertification.Human use directly affects more than 70% of the global, ice-free land surface and agriculture accounts for 70% of freshwater use, the IPCC added in the report.Agriculture, forestry and other land use activities accounted for 23% of total net man-made greenhouse gas emissions during 2007-2016. When pre- and post-production activity in the food system are included, that rises to up to 37%.Last year the IPCC's first special report warned that keeping the Earth's temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit), rather than the 2C target agreed under the Paris accord, required rapid change across society.Food security The IPCC warned of more disruption to global food chains as extreme weather becomes more frequent due to climate change and said environmental costs should be factored into food.It projects a median increase of 7.6% in cereal prices by 2050, meaning higher food prices and an increased risk of hunger. While an estimated 821 million people are undernourished, changing consumption habits have already contributed to about 2 billion adults being overweight or obese. Not that I need to illustrate this, but some people really do not have a way to surf the web or travel the world to see this first hand..and writing it does not leave the same impact. I am not trying to push my opinions down anyone's throat. All I want to do is point out the fact, and not sugar coat it. This is real, this is the world that we are leaving for our kids, and it is something that we do not have the right to stick our heads in the sand about and ignore cause it is uncomfortable sad or because you are too busy. I think the people living in well-developed countries are a little bit too comfortable. THINK about this now please just bear with me and try to think about what we all are doing We all order take out, we all drive cars, have toilets that flush, are provided with shelter, heat, food, too many things to entertain us, an education, we shop, buy presents for days of the year that really do not even require giving gifts and I say gifts because yeah people give more than one most times. Ok so now that you have thought of all that stuff we take for granted THINK about the 1930s when your grandparents grew up, or about places in the world right now that still do not have even half of these luxuries, now THINK again and imagine where you want your children to be in 2070? AND YA YOU WILL PROBABLY BE DEAD SO YOU SAY WHY DOES IT MATTER? Well is your existence all that really matters in all the history of time? If you think that, well hell if you think that you probably never kept reading until now anyway! It is really self-centered, selfish, and you do not really love plants and animals, and your family name you want to be carried on. You basically are saying you do not care if you are remembered at all!To Save Mother Ganga, the River Ganges Is Made Human, Part 1 - Blue Ocean NetworkPollution in Ganga claims more lives than bomb blasts: AdvaniThe world’s science academies concluded that the global food system was “broken” leaving billions of people either underfed or overweight and driving dangerous global warming. That the global food system required “radical transformation” if climate change and development goals were to be met, including “widespread dietary change”.People in rich nations will have to make big cuts to the amount of beef and lamb they eat if the world is to be able to feed 10 billion people, according to a new report. These cuts and a series of other measures are also needed to prevent catastrophic climate change, it says.More than 50% more food will be needed by 2050, according to the (WRI) report, but greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture will have to fall by two-thirds at the same time. The extra food will have to be produced without creating new farmland, otherwise the world’s remaining forests face destruction. Meat and dairy production use 83% OF FARMLAND and produce 60% of agriculture’s emissions. We need to cut down meat-eating and putting a stop to the wasting of one-third of food produced.“We have to change how we produce and consume food, not just for environmental reasons, but because this is an existential issue for humans,” said Janet Ranganathan, vice-president for science and research at the WRI.Avoiding meat and dairy is ‘single biggest way’ to reduce your impact on EarthThe UN says we need to reduce our meat consumption to fight climate change and improve food security. Global meat consumption must fall to curb global warming, reduce growing strains on land and water and improve food security, health, and biodiversity, a United Nations report on the effects of climate change concluded.Although the report stopped short of explicitly advocating going meat free, it called for big changes to farming and eating habits to limit the impact of population growth and changing consumption patterns on stretched land and water resources. Plant-based foods and sustainable animal-sourced food could free up several million square kilometers of land by 2050 and cut 0.7-8.0 gigatonnes a year of carbon dioxide equivalent, the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)But it is not the only solution and cutting emissions from all sectors is essential to quickly curtail global warming."The window for making these changes is closing fast. If there is a further delay in reducing emissions, we will miss the opportunity to successfully manage the climate change transition in the land sector," it said."There are certain kinds of diets that have a lower carbon footprint and put less pressure on land,"The IPCC aka The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (Since the pre-industrial era, the land surface air temperature has risen by 1.53 degrees Celsius, twice as much as the global average temperature (0.87C), causing more heatwaves, droughts, and heavy rain, as well as land degradation and desertification.Human use directly affects more than 70% of the global, ice-free land surface and agriculture accounts for 70% of freshwater use, the IPCC added in the report.Agriculture, forestry and other land use activities accounted for 23% of total net man-made greenhouse gas emissions during 2007-2016. Founded in 1980, PETA is dedicated to establishing and defending the rights of all animals. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds and other "pests", and the abuse of backyard dogs. PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns. The 15 worst cities for rush hour trafficGlobal Government Policies on Meat Reduction Urgently Needed to Reduce Climate Change ImpactGovernment Must Tackle Meat And Dairy Over-Consumption To Save Planet, Warns ReportCharity Navigator - Rating for People for the Ethical Treatment of AnimalsExperiments on Animals: Overview | PETAAll The Extremely Messed Up Stuff PETA Has Ever DoneThe ONLY time a momma pig gets to touch her babies, even forced to feed through the cage, Life is just being pushed around and reproducing until a miserable inhumane death. This is the good old bacon so many love :(A Glimpse into Factory FarmingThe factory farm—antibiotic linkAntibiotics were first discovered in 1928 and by 1950 US researchers had found that low “subtherapeutic” doses added to feed led to an improvement in animal growth rates. Today, America leads the world in animal feed antibiotics, representing about 80 percent of global usage. It’s thought that the killing of intestinal bacteria may be responsible for these increases in weight.Routine doses of antibiotics are also often used by factory farms as a prophylactic measure, minimizing the likelihood of disease outbreaks encouraged by crowding and poor hygiene. In Australia, subtherapeutic antibiotic doses are regularly given to cattle and pigs, while the chicken industry only uses them for therapeutic purposes. According to Choice, these are used for the prevention of disease in factory conditions and will have the added effect of speeding the growth process. In New Zealand, the practice of feeding antibiotics to animals is less common.Unfortunately, low-dose antibiotics are too weak to kill off bacteria and instead encourage them to morph into antibiotic-resistant forms. Evidence has emerged of antibiotic resistance spreading in humans and the fact that certain antibiotics are failing to work for a percentage of the population is an ongoing concern. As a result, the EU has chosen to ban both the use on animals of antibiotics that are useful for human health and also the practice of subtherapeutic use.Meating your dinnerA seminal work for the modern animal rights movement is the 1975 book Animal Liberation by ethicist Peter Singer. Today’s animal advocacy organizations occupy a broad spectrum, ranging from the RSPCA to direct action animal liberationists who support entering intensive farming establishments to film conditions or rescue the animals. The treatment of animals as commodities rather than sentient beings results in a variety of cruel treatments:Overcrowding in a single pen gives each animal only a small space in which to live. These cramped conditions usually prevent animals from expressing their normal behavior, often resulting in severe frustration and stereotypical actions such as head bobbing, self-mutilation and bar chewing.A lack of exercise among battery hens results in severe physical degeneration.Painful surgical procedures are carried out without anesthetic.Sick or injured animals are usually denied veterinary care, as this would greatly increase cost overheads.Sheds are often windowless, denying animals the sight of the sun. There are questions about the humaneness of various slaughter practices.Essentially, production animals are being denied the protections automatically given to companion animals.Practices in Australia and New Zealand are typical of those in many other countries. Battery hens are confined inside a cage where they are each given a space roughly equivalent to an A4-sized piece of paper, where they cannot turn around or stretch their wings. As a consequence, they tend to peck each other and are debeaked as a harm prevention measure. All the male chicks are of no use to the egg production system and are gassed or ground up alive at the hatchery.Broiler chickens can suffer from heat stress, which can on occasion be fatal. Kept in sheds that may have poor ventilation, they are exposed to high concentrations of ammonia from their own waste products. Bred and fed to put on weight very quickly, they are ready for slaughter in only 45 days. Unfortunately, their bones are unable to grow fast enough and their legs can collapse under their own weight. Without the ability to access food and water, they are certain to die.Pigs are highly intelligent and very social animals, which means close confinement is particularly difficult for them. Like broiler chickens, pigs are sensitive to heat. When in group pens, they may sometimes bite off one another’s tails in desperation. Surgery carried out on pigs to prevent them from harming one another includes tail docking and teeth clipping.A pregnant sow is commonly kept in a dry sow stall that’s only slightly larger than her body, preventing her from turning around or lying down properly. No bedding is provided and she must make do with a concrete floor. Before giving birth, she is later moved to a similar farrowing crate. Defenders of these practices claim the crate prevents the sow from crushing her piglets.I am not here to tell anyone how to live but if that last picture does not speak volumes to you, picture it as a steak and tell me your mouth is watering? I spent a lot of time gathering information I wanted to highlight, and it is late here, so forgive me if I did not edit it properly, if I repeated anything or just left out some stuff, and I am sorry to those of you who are weak-stomached, but you have to see things many times to believe them. And I think our world and the things living in it suffering human or animal is worth the time, and the effort. Goodnight!
