News Flash; we all evolved from apes, technically you're a Monkey too, just a white one!Everyone, no matter the colour of their skin or gender should be treated equally and fairly. Deliberately not considering a person of colour for a position in favour of a white candidate is not the definition of equality.At the same time, considering a black candidate for a position on the basis of skin colour just to look progressive and diverse to the public at the expense of a better qualified (white) candidate is also not the definition of equality.Everyone should work hard and not play the Racism card every time something doesn't go in their favour. Consideration for positions should be based on who is the best man/woman for the job, regardless of the colour of their skin. Period!FeminismTrue feminism basically means that no human being, male or female, has more value than the other. A true feminist supports gender equality by advocating for women’s rights. You also don’t have to subscribe to the school of thought called Radical Feminism that wants to abolish every form of patriarchy & strives for women to be more powerful than men.You can totally be a stay-at-home mom and be a feminist, in this case, you consciously CHOSE to be a full-time mom and not because it's what society expects of you as a woman.You can be a feminist and still enjoy cooking as a woman. I like to think I’m a feminist and I love cooking. It only becomes an issue if your man EXPECTS you to cook/clean up after because it is your DUTY.I think some people hide behind feminism only when it's convenient. Lazy people, I suspect.If you don't want to wear a bra, great! But don’t hide behind feminism and come up with a conspiracy theory of how bras were invented by men as a form of oppression for women.Women who shave are not weaker creatures. I can do whatever the fuck I want with my body! I personally love the feel of my skin when shaved plus it's hygienic.Yep. You can be feminist and wear makeup. I’m not sexually objectifying myself. I wear makeup because I want to, not because society says that's the way I can be pretty or worthy of attention from men.You don't have to be single, sad or lonely to be a feminist.Not all feminists are angry.Not all feminists hate sex. They also don't dislike the idea of marriage and children.You don't have to be a lesbian to be a feminist. Although, a lesbian might be statistically more likely to subscribe to feminism but sexual preference is sexual preference & equality is equality. Not all escorts are illiterates, some have a masters degree, some are in college and need the money to pay off their student loans. Heck, a variety of circumstances can push one to decide to be a sex worker; money, sexual curiosity, lifestyle etc. Do not judge because you have it easier than them. You'll probably resort to prostitution too if you walked in their shoes.I like the idea of a free market economy. Prostitution and drugs generate hordes of cash that goes untaxed and unaccounted for. It would be beneficial to the economy to legalize prostitution/marijuana and tax the subsequent legal income generated from it.Using tax payer’s money to raid prostitutes is doing a terrible job of keeping them off the streets. In the U.S for example, law enforcement agencies spend at least $2000 for each arrest of a sex worker - arrest, court and imprisonment costs. It costs the country on average, $120 million a year on prostitution control.By not legalizing this business, we are creating an environment where pimps and shady spa owners thrive by forcing girls into prostitution against their will. Illegal prostitution makes sex workers susceptible to rape, violence and other sex-related crimes.In places where prostitution is illegal, sex workers are more susceptible to STDs because of lack of access to healthcare. Law Enforcement officials can use sex workers as informants to uncover practitioners of human trafficking.The only reason human traffickers have power over their victims is because prostitution is not legalized. Women and underage girls who are held against their will are afraid of going to the police because they think they will be arrested and punished. Once legalized, sex workers would be empowered to approach the police if they are in danger and report any form of abuse.Marijuana;First of all, tobacco will kill you, marijuana will not. Let's be real, weed sells well and it is known to be medicinal. It is also fibrous, meaning weed fibres can be used to manufacture clothing. Legalizing marijuana will definitely foster economic growth.In Colorado for example, recreational marijuana was legalized and a 15 percent tax on wholesale was implemented. The anticipated consumption of marijuana was 2.3 million ounces in 2014. In a $600 million industry, taxes alone would bring in $130 million. Since legalization, 10,000 jobs have been created ranging from those who mix and grow the plant to the stores that sell marijuana.According to a study from Cato Institute, the legalization of marijuana would generate $8.7 billion in federal and state tax revenue annually whereas the government spends $41.3 billion per year just on enforcing prohibition.Dose of Reality: The Effect of State Marijuana LegalizationsNew income from tax revenues can be put to good use by supporting rehabilitation clinics and hospitals for treating addictions to much harder drugs like heroine or meth.Legalizing weed might not necessarily lead to increased use. I have a theory; when people cannot legally do something, they may decide to break the law just for the thrill of it. Lots of teenagers engage in underage drinking not because they love alcohol but because it's the cool thing to do. Why do they think it's cool? Because it's illegal.Same thing with weed, some people get high because breaking the law makes them look like they are badass. The truth is once it's legalised, that thrill, that sense of adventure is gone. Of course this doesn't mean a large majority of smokers would quit smoking entirely.AbortionThis is a highly controversial topic as well and here’s my take. Illegal abortions can be very dangerous and people die resulting from complications. People make mistakes, that mistake should not be allowed to put their lives on hold especially if there's a bright future ahead of them.If someone was raped by a complete stranger, it would be cruel to force the victim to keep the baby. The child will serve as a constant reminder of how she was raped, she may grow to resent the child with each passing day.There are a million and one reasons why a woman can choose to have an abortion and it is not in your place to judge or lecture them about what the Bible/Quaran has to say about it. Do not judge a man if you've not walked a mile in his shoes.It's their body and it doesn't affect you in any way. The decision to have an abortion is very personal and complicated. Any government that tries to control such decisions is very anti-choice and assumes women are not capable of thinking for themselves.Women should be allowed to become mothers WHEN they want & HOW they want. Let's respect women and trust their choices. Let's trust the fact that they own their bodies and know what is best for them and their families.By legalizing abortion, women would not resort to quack doctors and it also ensures that they get access to the best medical care and not get killed in the process.We can't control the fact that teenagers will have sex, but we can make sure they are safe. We can advocate for free, easily accessible contraception to minimize the chances of unwanted pregnancy.Funding for Press OutletsI personally do not feel comfortable with state funded TV stations/media outlets. All people should be exposed to all information and be able to decide for themselves on what to believe.If a media outlet gets any kind of funding from the state, then legal frameworks should be put in place to protect such organizations from becoming "puppets" of the state.Media outlets owned by the state in Nigeria tend to air biased news to the public. For example, a state-owned TV station in South-West Nigeria, was instructed by the governor not to broadcast the campaign of the opposing political party in 2015.I think press outlets should be unbiased and independent of government funding but should be bound by strict national laws on defamation, libel and using illegal methods to get stories.BusinessFree societies often produce better economies. When individuals are encouraged to experiment and offer different products/services, society as a whole benefits.I love the idea of a free-market economy. I’m advocating for the removal of unproductive regulation, reduction of taxes, and getting government out of the way of innovation and job creation.When people are allowed to run their businesses the way they see fit, without inappropriate government interference and meddling, those businesses are able to innovate and create tremendous value for consumers and more jobs for employees.Regulations can be heavy burdens on businesses/people who are just trying to make a living, and often discourage new businesses, prevent existing businesses from hiring new workers, and even force businesses to close.A free market provides tremendous opportunity for people of all backgrounds, interests, and abilities.
