I have made this 8 month study plan for SSC CGL 2020 aspirants.Oct-Nov : Arithmetic + reasoning (1 hr everyday) most interesting part of ssc syllabus + English reading and vocabDec-Jan : Advance maths + GS ( 1 hr everyday, only static portion) + vocab and grammar ( focus on grammar here , vocab is always gradually built)Feb-March : Previous yr papers , 2015 onwards , also include chsl 18, 19 , cpo 18 19 papers + quizzes+ sectional tests+ Revision ( analyse and revise , most important ), add new info to notes. ( leave cgl 18 prelims shift, use them as mocks) + 1 hr GS staticApril : Mocks+ Current affairs of Feb, March, April + Revise important questions of arithmetic and advance books + Important grammar rules.May: Cgl 18 prelims shifts as mocks + all theory/formulae of quant+ important questions from all sources of all subjects.You can add and manipulate this as you wish, I have covered all important sources. Reading any source first time is a bit challenging, but you have to finish syllabus soon and get to revision and previous yr. Only revision can prepare you for mocks. So revise your books of quant and english before starting mocks. Reasoning won’t be a challenge , it is also covered in previous yr and mocks. EVEN IF YOU HAVE TAKEN MATHS SERIOUSLY TILL 10TH CLASS , YOU CAN DIRECTLY START YOUR PREPARATION FROM SSC BOOKS , WITHOUT THE HELP OF A TEACHER. SELF STUDY IS STILL THE BEST WAY TO PREPARE FOR ANY EXAM IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THE SUBJECT.IF YOU ARE A TOTAL BEGINNER IN QUANT, YOU HAVE NEVER TAKEN IT SERIOUSLY OR YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND IT BY YOURSELF, THEN I WOULD SAY EITHER YOU START WITH NCERT (8TH, 9TH, 10TH) OR YOU JOIN A CLASS. YOU CAN SEE THE LIST OF CHAPTERS IN SSC CGL NOTIFICATION.R S AGGARWAL IS A GOOD BOOK.THIS SECTION IS EASY AND SCORING. SCORING 44–46 MARKS HERE IS NO BIG DEAL. SOME QUESTIONS CAN BE TRICKY LIKE COUNT THE NO OF FIGURES, FIND THE MISSING NO BUT REST IS CAKEWALK.GK : MOST TIME CONSUMING SECTION , ONLY 50 MARKS WEIGHTAGE BUT LENGTH OF SYLLABUS EXCEEDS ANY OTHER SUBJECT ,EVEN ENGLISH AND QUANT. I SCORED ONLY 20.5 MARKS HERE IN CGL 18, BECAUSE I WAS FOCUSING ON ENGLISH AND QUANT. IF YOU WANT TO PREPARE IT THOROUGHLY ITS YOUR CHOICE, BUT DON’T SPEND TOO MUCH TIME HERE. LUCENT GK , NCERTs CAN COVER THIS PART. CURRENT AFFAIRS CAN BE DONE FROM MONTHLY MODULES.I HAD TESTBOOK FOR TESTSERIES . IF YOU ATTEMPT A MOCK , KEEP YOUR PERCENTILE 96+ IF YOU WANT A SEAT (ANY GRADE PAY) , IF YOU WANT A REALLY GOOD RANK , KEEP IT 99+. IF YOU ARE ATTEMPTING PREVIOUS YR PAPERS AS MOCK, MARKS SHOULD BE 160+. According to the notification prelims will be conducted during October which leaves you with 8 months of time which is enough considering you start your preparations now.I have written ibps Po and ibps rrb Po this year and have cleared both.i didn't attend any coaching institute but it took me two years on self preparation to clear the exam because of lack of guidance. Prelims is very unpredictable and you can't predict the cut off.Your safer score in prelims should be 50+.For quantitative aptitude just go through the basic formulas and solve a lot of examples.if you can't understand a topic,for example mixture and allegations was very tough for me so I completely left out that topic and it did not make much difference.but make sure you have a good command in topics like boat and stream,time and work, average , ratio,percentage,profit and loss.you can expect at least one question from these topics.and data interpretation will be based on concept of above mentioned topics.if you are thorough with this you can easily clear sectional cutoff.Out of 5 questions in number series 2 are easily doable and if you find other 3 question tough skip right away.dont waste your time.simplification/approximation for 5 marks.Now coming to reasoning part there are no shortcuts. You have to practice as much problem as possible.After sometime you will find your own way to tackle those puzzles.You can expect at least 2 puzzles in prelims and 3 puzzles in mains.circular arrangements/linear arrangements and floor puzzles are common ones.try to practice as much as possible.refer to sites like bankers adda for daily puzzle. Previous year reasoning section was toughest of all the sections.But do remember it will be tough for other candidates too and surely sectional cutoff will be low.another important topic is statement and assumption and expect 5 marks from this topic in main.syllogism are not asked sometimes.machine coding for 5 marks and if you can't understand logic in less than a minute just skip and go for coding and decoding.Now coming to English section,main concern is accuracy. Sentences looking perfect to us may not always be correct. In error detection 2 are doable . In parajumble if it's taking too much time to rearrange the sentence then just form first and last sentence.scoring part in this section would be paragraph reading and cloze test.read questions first in paragraph reading before reading the passage,so you can know what part of the passage need to be understood clearly.and in cloze test , glance over the passage quickly to understand the tone of passage and what tense to be used.In mains computer and general knowledge section are scoring ones. Computer section is very basic.try to memorize Ms word shortcuts,and it's better to rely on PDF notes of bankers adda and grade up.same applies to gk section. Previous 3 month current affairs would be sufficient and if time permits prepare for last four months current affairs. Read both bankers adda and grade up gk capsule.static section weightage varies from 5–15 marks.But expect one question from books and author,dams,currency capital and wildlife sanctuary. Better prepare capital and currency of those nation which were recently in news.For current affairs,there is a YouTube channel called studyiq ,which covers most of questions and personally I felt this site very useful.atleast 10–15 questions are directly or indirectly from here.All the best friends.prepare well because vacancies are reducing every year and competition is increasing proportionally.Note: unless you solve online mock test,you will have problem with time management during exam.
