Prank, satire and panel shows are what ITV and Channel 4 do best. Stand up shows by the BBC are usually full of "comedians" I don't find funny too. The BBC do lot's of great comedies, but they also do a lot of rubbish ones too, especially in recent years. Some of the sitcoms that I've listed in the bottom half I've put there because I can't remember much about them. All I can remember is I found them funny at the time, some more than others. Same goes for some of the sketch shows in the bottom half. Some of those sketch shows people thought were terrible, but they did have the occasional funny character and/or sketch. You will also notice I don’t follow the crowd. Non-British people and critics mention the same overrated shows and comedians repeatedly. As a Brit however who actually watches a lot of British TV, you’ll see that the few I have mentioned are lower down than they normally are on people’s lists, because they’re not as funny as people think they are, and some of them are missing altogether because they’re either not funny at all, or I haven’t seen them yet.
What is the current best British sitcom?
