Yesterday night I got a call from mom.Mom: 2nd PUC board exam Kannada question paper has been leaked itseems, Sharath was asking Nidhi whether she needs the question paper.Can you please check it out ?(Nidhi is my sister,Sharath is my close friend's brother,Both are in class 12 now )Me: What? Question paper has been leaked ? Okay I'll ask sharath about it.Mum: Okay do send the question paper once you receive it .Me: Yeah sure.(After the call, I messaged sharath asking for the question paper.He sent me the question paper with a note "Not to share it with anyone".)(It was a chain link through which the paper was leaked through his friend's circle).After cross checking the papers without even a next thought I informed it to "Bengaluru City Police".Within a second I got a call from a police asking about my details, enquired me and requested me to send them the question papers.After sending them the question paper the conversation goes like this:Is honesty is really the best policy ?1) I could've sent these question papers to my sister happily ..But "NO"!2) I shouldn't have informed the police ? Now directly I'll be involved in this ? Did I take risk ?NO,I knew that I ll be involved in this, I knew that the further investigations will lead to enquiry but it's okay :) But I was feeling peaceful for those students who worked hard the whole year, their "hardwork will not go in vain", because I know the pain of hardwork !What happened next ?It's confirmed by the authorities that question paper hasn't been leaked, Am happy for the Bengaluru city Police for their quick check and response :)"Being Honest" is better than being "found guilty". Just do your part and leave the rest :)Edits: Cyber crime inspector called me today and appreciated me on informing them about the paper leakage. They also shared a view that they need responsible citizens who would support them in such instances.( Yeah,They also spoke to Sharath ).Even though they confirmed it as 'hoax', the complaint has taken a serious turn.The police are now into finding the main person who is root cause of all this. Liberal, Progressive, and Outward-looking.I am pleasantly surprised by the new education policy. The NEP empowers students to pick and choose their academic journey rather than conforming to the set standards and norms. It also moves towards international standards with a focus on digital and research-based learning. There are many changes that I can talk about, but I will stick to ones that truly stand out for me.Academic Credits Systems: This is an excellent initiative that will allow students to learn at their own pace. They don’t have to worry about completing the whole course. They can collect credits, drop out, and return when they want (within permissible limit) to finish the course based on the minimum credits required. Additionally, they can transfer their credits across universities.4-year bachelors' degree: With a stage-wise distribution approach, the NEP makes every year of the bachelors’ degree count. After completion of 1st year, you get a Diploma, after 2nd an Advanced Diploma, after 3rd a Bachelor’s degree, and after 4th Bachelor’s degree with research specialization.Multi-disciplinary: The great change in the new policy is that you can mix and match subjects in higher education. Rather than picking predecided groupings, the students will have the freedom to pick the subjects they want. It is like building your own degree.Globalization of Education: Now, the top-rated foreign education institutes can open their colleges in India, while top-rated India educational institutes can go global. Of course, this will come at a price but it will also (hopefully) push Indian universities to compete with the best in the world. This will further help the globalization of the curriculum exposing talented Indian students to diverse subjects and courses.6% of GDP on education: Hope this actually happens. The words have been spoken. Let’s see how and where the money is deployed. But surely it is a welcome sign. Education is the most valuable asset that a country can develop.Having said that we need to see if the government implements the policy effectively. It is a bold and challenging policy and it needs competent people to execute it efficiently.
