I admit that she loved when I cleaned her ears with a “wet-one,” many Savannah Cats including my current one, will not tolerate that.That’s the pro side. Now let’s talk about the con side.Savannah Cats are energy bars filled with Red Bull on amphetamines and speed. They need stimulation, constant stimulation. If you or something don’t provide it they will provide their own entertainment - usually to the detriment of your home.They are large, strong and fast. Neither of mine has ever raised a paw to me in anger. However, I have some decent scars from their affection. In the case of Doc, she would lay across my arms while I typed and rest her paws on my forearms. Often her nails would inadvertently pierce the skin. I ended up buying falconer’s armbands for when she would rest on me.They have anti-gravity abilities. In my home they have “levitated” to the tops of doors, refrigerators, dropped ceilings and on one memorable occasion a ceiling fan - in motion with bad effects for the fan - not the cat. They also use this ability to show affection. I have scars on my back and shoulders where both have jumped up on me when I wasn’t paying attention to rest on my shoulder and nuzzle me. Both have no fear of water and will join you in the shower if you let them - and even if you don’t let them but leave the door open. Nothing like relaxing in the shower, with your eyes closed and having a wet furry creature rub up against you.Some, depending on how well they were socialized, will try to escape your home. While many cats attempt this, Savannahs are highly intelligent and will wait for you to make a mistake. Once outside the house they are subject to having bad things happen to them. I think I’ve cured that by taking mine out for walks on their leash. They have come to anticipate this. Remember in cold weather they do not have the ability to stay warm. Even in the summer mine will sit in the window in the sun on the hottest of days or retire to their heating pads if the A/C is on.I don’t actively encourage people to own Savannah Cats, unless they have buckets of free time. Even then I would recommend starting with an F5 or higher (F6-F7), they have many of the characteristics without the size or all of the wildness.For those of you who stuck with me this long. I love them, and cannot imagine a life without mine. They attract attention from everyone. Our Labrador was rescued as a puppy and Doc trained him to be the perfect slave. He would wash her for hours and act as her personal heating pad. When she passed he cried, with me, for days. He went from puppy to old dog under her tutelage. We have a competent government that will not fight each other like countries with multiples parties. The tactics and reactions to the virus were and are made immediately. Quarantine for people came from other countries is a must. We track down from F0 (positive to covid 19) to F1, F2, F3 and so on. If a F1 becomes F0, then F2s will become F1 and have to be quarantined together, then F3s become F2s. And so on. Then, take a look at the world’s “greatest” country, the US. What is its government, its President, doing, if not making chaos throughout the world?
