I generally use knowledge and educational background to gage this. (2) will know common statistical and machine learning methods and be able to explain how ensembles like random forest are created or derive some statistical tests from scratch. (3) will innovate and create new algorithms when needed.Some good questions to assess (3) in an interview:1) Compare and contrast the mathematical machinery used in boosting vs. bagging. How does this impact algorithm speed and accuracy?2) Derive a likelihood ratio test based on these two models/statistical distributions.3) Give a distance metric and ask candidate to derive a nonparametric statistical test.4) What was the last machine learning paper you read? Critique the method and suggest potential ways to improve that algorithm (speed or accuracy).5) Create your own neural network model using a novel mapping function.6) How can topology be leveraged to extend statistical methods? How have TDA tools like persistent homology interacted with statistics?

BITSAT is not about great intellect or thinking, it's about speed, accuracy and you wit (as to which question to skip and your ability to guess a few answers if safe). The questions are of a relatively lower level as compared to JEE Mains or Advanced.Just go through the concepts and simple examples based on them so that you can get the formulae and concepts in your mind. To get into the groove of giving long papers, take an online test series for BISAT (Allen or FIITJEE MyPAT or any other one that you find appropriate). These tests are better than the sample papers in books for a few reasons:1. You develop the habit of answering a paper sitting in front of the computer screen under the crunch of time2. The answers are mostly correct in contrast to the sample papers in study guides wherein you find many wrong answers which make you end up wasting a lot of time.Also, for quick revision and practice, you can use a study guide like the one by Arihant Publications. Though, since you have plenty of time with boards coming up as well, go through the NCERT well. That should serve your purpose.I was preparing for the JEE, not for BITSAT. I had my BITSAT just 2 days after JEE Advanced. It was with my JEE prep that I did well (I guess so) in BITSAT. So, if you are preparing for the JEE as well, just go on with the test series and you will be fine.Also, keep one thing in mind- the level of the questions in these online tests is above that of the actual BISAT. So, don't let yourself be tormented by that.All the best :) !

Using no magic whatsoever, who can fly their plane the farthest, or keep it airborne the longest? Who can load their boat with the greatest weight without sinking? What does this tell you about how Muggle engineers do their work? Winners get House points.NEWT students would take regular field trips to the British Museum.
