The rate of interest is 11.25% for applicants belonging to SC/ST category. Girl students also enjoy a rate of interest of 11.25%. UBI has issued pre-approved sanction of loans to all aspirants who gain admission at NIFT. If satisfactory, they are taken into a flying school and trained, with some kind of financial assistance arranged (usually some kind of debt guarantee with the airline's financiers). If the cadet performs satisfactorily in flying school, he or she will be invited into the airline as a junior first officer.These schemes are extremely competitive. At my former employer, I believe we accepted about 1 in 20 who interviewed. (Many more applied but did not make it to interview stage.)Some airlines claim to offer "cadetships", but offer no financial assistance and no guarantee of a job even if the cadet is successful. Financial need, as determined by a national need analysis formula, is the only consideration in determining how much total aid an individual receives; a student's financial aid package is then constructed using the funds available at the time the application is completed. For the 2016-2017 award year, HMS students wishing to be considered for HMS scholarships and low-interest institutional loans are required to file the HMS Application for Financial Aid, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Need Access Application, along with copies of parent 2015 federal tax returns.Each student applicant is assigned by alphabetical designation to a Financial Aid Officer.
