American Universities are structured somewhat differently in the sense that Computer Science is a blend of Mathematics, Engineering, and Business. This is reflected at the College level where Computer Science may be in the College of Arts and Sciences where Mathematics is located, in the College of Engineering where Electrical Engineering is located, or in the School of Business where Computer Information Systems is located. Depending which College or School determines the necessary skills.ECE is Electrical and Computer Engineering that is located in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, so depending on how much Computer Science is affiliated with Electrical Engineering, the skill set may vary. What this means is that there are several layers of Computer Engineering from chip design to implementing software systems.To see this, I will use Stanford as an example.
