PDF Editor FAQ
What set of irons are the most forgiving? Which irons have the largest sweet spot? Which irons are the easiest to hit straight and avoid a heavy slice or hook?
There’s a thing called the Maltby Playability Factor. The company actually tests how forgiving clubs are. Here’s a chart:http://www.golfworks.com/images/art/MPFRatingsChart.pdfYou’ll see from the list that many of Callaway’s X-series irons are at the top of the forgiveness list. Even the old ones like X-12’s are hilariously easy to hit. Ping irons from the 70’s are also amazingly “playable” compared with many modern clubs.Above all, have your clubs FITTED to your body, hands (meaning gripsize) and your recreational swing. Meaning which direction is your bad miss and how hard do you swing. And not the swing you’re ‘trying’ to do to play well. The swing you actually do when you have a few beers in you and you’re yukking it up with your buds. Your recreational swing.Good-time golfers really steal their own fun by not getting fitted for clubs. The amount of difference in ‘forgiveness’ decreases as the MPF numbers on that chart get higher. So if you’re in the market for game improvement or super game improvement clubs, just pick ones that look/feel good to you and have them fitted. The fitting will make more of a consistency difference than which brand of clubs you pick.
What is the best irons for high handicap golfer?
The Callaway X-series, going all the way back to X-10’s and 12’s from years ago, have shown to be, via laboratory testing, some of the most forgiving clubs ever made. There’s a rating called the Maltby Playability Factor. The higher the number, the more forgiving the iron. You can look at their chart here →http://www.golfworks.com/images/art/MPFRatingsChart.pdfThere’s a caveat, based upon *why* someone is a high-handicapper. It depends on what’s making their golf swing lousy. Ultra Game Improvement clubs often have big, cambered soles, which help the club glide into the ball when the player isn’t making good contact…which is most of the time. But cambered soles (meaning they look wide and roundish on the bottom) are hard to use for ummm….hackers who try to ‘pick’ or ‘lift’ the ball off the ground. These folks often swing off of their back foot (google reverse weight shift) and try to catch the ball cleanly with a picking or sweeping strike. That’s really hard to do consistently. With a deeply cambered sole, it’s damned near impossible without a tee or a perfect lie. So ‘pickers’ need clubs with narrower, flatter soles. You’ll see these in clubs with lower MPF numbers. They really should just get lessons first, instead of getting clubs to match bad swings, of course.
Any MPF schemes recommended?
I would recommend you to check out the official website of the MPF schemes authority of Hong Kong and do a comparison of different Fund platforms. You can do a fund analysis of all available MPF funds in HK. They let you compare under different fund types, fund categories, trustees or schemes etc. No better way of doing comparison than that. =)Click here for the MPFA website: https://mfp.mpfa.org.hk/eng/mpp_list.jsp (https://mfp.mpfa.org.hk/eng/mpp_list.jsp)I’ve also attached a screenshot of the recent research I’ve done using their chart. Hope it helps!
