Being a Catholic school teacher, does the school give the teacher a lesson plan for the curriculum each school year?

No. The school board or ministry of education publishes a curriculum document for each course. You can access that document online. Type in (your province, state, territory, or region), curriculum documents. Then choose elementary or secondary, and then go through the links for the subject of interest. That curriculum document explains what must be covered in the course. The teacher then plans out the lesson plans to correspond to the requirements in the document. Here is one page from ‘Canadian and World Studies, grades 9 and 10 with recent amendments. What languages can you speak? Where are you from and how would you rate each of your language skills on the scale of 1-10 (10 being a native speaker)? I need this for a school project and I am kind of curious as well.

English: 10/10I was born and raised in Canada, so I grew up speaking English. Although Tamil is technically my mother tongue, English my strongest language, since I communicate in it the most.Tamil: 7.5/10This is my mother tongue and the primary language spoken at home. I am very fluent in Tamil, but I do occasionally make minor grammar and vocab mistakes. I also only went to Tamil language classes from ages 4–13, so my reading and writing skills have weakened in the last 5 or so years.I can speak in Tamil regarding casual conversational matters, but English is the language I am most comfortable with regarding complex topics. Furthermore, I can understand standard Tamil and the Jaffna dialect pretty well. However, when it comes to watching Kollywood movies (especially for newer ones), I have to rely on subtitles because of the heavy use of Chennai slang.French: 4/10I learned French in school, where in my home province of Ontario, it was mandatory to be taught French from grades 4–9. However, being interested in the language, I took French from grades 4–12.Despite this, I never had any French practice outside of my French classes. Although I can read French pretty decently, my speaking and writing skills are at an elementary level.Furthermore, the French classes I took were all at the Core French level, which is the basic French program that only requires you to take FSL (French as a Second Language) classes. The other French programs offered by my school board were Extended French and Immersion French, where you take core subjects such as Science and Math in French.

I know that no one else has my brain and it depends on whether I can handle the class or not but from your experience, would you say that grade 9 applied French is an easy course?

Note: for those who are unaware, the Ontario education system in Canada, where French is compulsory from 4th through 9th grades, dictates two streams: an Applied stream in Grades 9 and 10 leading to College-preparation courses in Grades 11 and 12 or an Academic stream leading to University-preparation courses. It depends on your level of French instruction going in. My French started at Grade 4 (other districts had it at kindergarten) so I was already behind. Then I didn’t have a great group of teachers.I did Applied French, didn’t feel like I learned much, but got the credit. So did everyone. Basically nobody fails Applied Grade 9 French unless you don’t put the work in, because it’s a core class and they know you need it to move up.When I went through Grade 9 (in 2005) we didn’t have Duolingo, French in Action, Anki, YouTube or any of the other resources that would make Applied French a much easier course today.Bonne chance!
