Inventory resupply is the most common use case I've seen. It involves some kind of barcode scanner near the door.Barcode + cloud-connection = Smart Fridge that knows:1) What is expiration date of item2) Quantity per item the household ideally likes to keep in stockPossible IoT actions the fridge can take:1) Notify household (via SMS/Text) of spoiled food2) Auto-order items to be deliveredIn some hyper-cool alternate universe, all grocery items are RF tagged and the above is accomplished need for scanning ;-)

Cool video. Very cool. A couple observations:Do We Need/Want Credit Card Thin? I didn't see why the limo driver at the airport had a different palm device. I'm not sure why devices need to be as thin as credit cards, except to save raw materials. It seems the optimal size is a calculator. Credit cards as devices in your hand don't work as well as a device you can comfortably palm.Refrigerator Inventory & Recipe Book. I thought the refrigerator device was somewhat redundant with the wall calendar. Perhaps on the wall it would be more difficult to do.Oddly the biggest and easiest sale for the calendar device is at the office (or perhaps a coordination device on steroids).This reminded me of 3 other videos:The Future of Screen Technology 2014Future of the Book by IDEOand the TED talk which introduced the touch technology by Microsoft.

I have personally used a similar service, Green Chef, for a few weeks. Services like Blue Apron offer solutions to 3 pain points for a home cook: 1) refrigeration management, 2) scheduled menu design, and 3) eliminates grocery the shopping process.As a chef that cooks at home, pain points 2 and 3 are less problematic. I constantly create new recipes and dishes for professional purposes and make regular trips to markets for produce. Although Blue Aprons solution is very elegant and nice, these are not the main reasons I would subscribe to the service.Pain point 1 is my main concern. I am constantly reviewing refrigerator inventory. I create recipes to use up expiring items, which may require me to buy additional ingredients. This requires active management and regular maintainence. Blue Apron eliminates this pain point for me. I am given the exact amount of produce I need for the designed meal. I don't need to worry about the 9 extra carrots in a bundle when my recipe only calls for 1 carrot. This solution keeps my refrigerator very lean and clean. No excess ingredients waiting to get used or suffer the fate of being thrown away.For professional reasons, I have stopped my subscription to the service. I need the meals to create new recipes for my social media accounts. I would recommend the service to anyone who is a home cook.www.instagram.com/cheftofer
