Somewhere in the finer print, there is a requirement for sponsorship from an existing member. Applications are reviewed by a board and membership is granted on board approval. Starting from August 2017 all universities collect tuition fees.In order to avoid tuition fees, you need to meet one of the requirements below:Be Finnish citizenBe citizen of EU member country, EEA country or SwitzerlandHave permanent resident’s card in Finland or long-term resident’s EU residence permitHave fixed-term continuous residence permitHave EU Blue CardAttend a program taught in Finnish or SwedishGet a scholarship from the university. Details vary between universities. The requirements are not allways well defined. For example Tampere University doesn’t publish any fixed requirements but handles applications individually. Usually excelent results on previous studies help.Have started studies before August 2017.And of course you have to get place on the university. After that, you still can not study for free as you have to pay compulsory student union membership fee. That is ~100 € a year so it is allmost free.Doctoral studies are allways free.
