Instructor Onsite Evaluation: Fill & Download for Free

This particular customer complaint sat with me as somewhat unreasonable, especially given the time.I have spent most of my professional life as a corporate trainer on a variety of topics, but since I had a somewhat technical background, I started off after college by teaching computer skills to adults. Sometimes basic skills in Windows, but often in Office apps like Word or Excel, and also graphic and web design apps. I felt as though I was pretty good at what I did, and got consistently good evaluations from students, so I dug it, but there was also the occasional weird complaint. Which leads to my story.I was scheduled to teach an onsite Excel class on a Tuesday. An onsite is a private class for a group of employees of the same organization. It was scheduled close to where I was living, which is also good since it meant I didn’t need to drive far. Everything was looking to be great about this class. I always had a blast teaching Excel because I love the program, I loved onsites because a group of people that work together were typically more fun in a classroom, and these onsite classes often finished a little bit early, so I would usually get home early.My class started as normal and on time, and we were getting into it and having a great time and learning already. Pretty outstanding, overall. And then we were interrupted by someone coming in to the class. I did forget to mention the date I was teaching this class.It was September 11, 2001.So, someone comes in and tells everyone what’s going on. At that point, I didn’t know how to react, and teaching was the absolute last thing on my mind. It was suggested that we take a break so people can do anything they felt they needed to do. Someone had a small TV turned on and a group of us gathered around and just watched. After a little bit, it was suggested by someone on the client side that we put a hold on the class and reschedule for a different day. I called my office to talk to the owner about this and she wholeheartedly agreed. So I left, went home, and sat in front of the TV for what felt like 2 days straight.The shocker of this was that the following day, September 12th, the client contact for the site I was at called my boss and complained about how the class had gone the day before and wanted either a refund or another class with a different instructor. The client that was in the room the previous day. The client that had made the decision to suspend the class. The client that wished me well as I packed up and got ready to head home in a world that we were all in shock about.Obviously, my boss was totally cool and understood that I did my best given the circumstances, but still had to try and make the client happy.Honestly, I just always felt that, given the date of the class, the complaint was completely unreasonable, and I had no choice but to take it personally.

When your focus is single skill, learning from online courses works best. But domain like data science that demands skills where one has to orchestrate tool, techniques, processes across multiple levels (mathematical, computational, algorithmic), learning online without active mentoring would be a challenge. Offline person to person based programs are better suited.The real thing in this field is to gain practical knowledge and showcase it to the employers in the interview. To do so you need to make your presence on GitHub, StackOverflow, etc. I would strongly recommend you to choose a course which provides with your true blended immersive learning.
