In Virginia - and probably most states - when there is a court ordered guardianship of an adult, the court order controls. In those cases in which I am involved, I make sure the order voids all powers of attorney (financial and medical) UNLESS there is a compelling reason to keep them in force, then I specifically reference the document and state that it continues.
