Being a TIER 3 student with good CP skills, I was also wondering the same thing last year!Think as if you're google but for CRICKET.Would you pick a superb player with good batting skills and is an awesome fielder. But the only things is he hasn't joined any Coaching committee till now.Would you consider him for selections? Whether he will make it to the team or not will depend on his skills but do you want to just reject him for his background? NO right?These are the same ethics on which companies like GOOGLE,FB,AMAZON works.They don't care whether you're a TIER 3 STUDENT or a top college scholar, they'll consider you if you have talent.Just keeping learning!So keep coding and keep making efforts, it might be late as you don't have direct reach to google interviews like IITs , but it's not impossible. It's just your efforts, just keep coding and they look only for talent. Once you think you've got enough skills, send your resume on LinkedIn to google employees participate in their organized contests, they'll call you for sure.Prepare like you only have one chance!

This article may get lengthy but I’m sure you’ll find it atleast a bit useful.Tier 3 is a replacement to the interview from CGL 2016 and is likely to remain so in the near future. It carries the same 100 marks that were earlier carried by the interview. This exam will be of qualifying nature but marks are included in the preparation of final merit. The paper will be bilingual i.e. you can write answer either in Hindi or English Language. The new pattern aims to test you on your writing skills. Therefore “Practice” is the key to your success.Disclaimer:- You can follow any strategy that suits you. I’ve worked up mine, which I’m gonna share with you. After appearing in the paper on 19th March, I’ll get acquainted with the pattern and will edit my answer accordingly.As it was seen in 19th September Descriptive Paper of CHSL 2015 where matrix of blocks were provided to the candidates to write their answers in, same is anticipated to be provided for Tier 3 Descriptive. You are supposed to write only a word in each block. So you are advised to practice on the same. Either you can take a print out of an excel sheet or quickly make your own table on plain paper consisting of columns and rows according to the number of words you have to write. For instance, make a 10x10 table, if you have to write 100 words.The CHSL descriptive paper consisted of two exercises viz. An Essay and A Letter. The essay was on “ Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan” and the letter was formal which was to be addressed to The Sports Secretary Of India suggesting How We can Improve our Performance in 2020 Tokyo Olympics. My point behind telling all this is that you shouldn’t expect “writing to your Mommy/Daddy” kind of informal letters. Even Informal letters would be of class and you won’t be given to write leave application kind of stuff. As this is for an exam which requires graduation as its qualification, you should expect something bigger than what came in CHSL. Whether it’s an Essay or a Letter, It’s going to be more or less same.So, to be able to write well, you must read newspapers, articles and political magazines as much as possible. Not only does this increase your vocabulary but also helps you bring flow in your writing. Go through editorials of well-known Newspapers as well.What to read? The articles you read must cover a range of topics including –· Social Issues like Poverty, Education, Equality, Social Evils (Child Marriage, Dowry, Rape etc.)· Finance & Economy (e.g. Demonetization, RBI Rates, GDP Rates etc.)· Politics, Schemes & Governance (e.g. Upcoming and recently concluded elections, coups, revolutions and agitations, political deaths etc.)· Technology (e.g. UPI, Payment Wallets, Vaccines, Social Networks etc.)· Sports (e.g. Recent wins, retirements etc.)· Environmental Concerns like Pollution, Overpopulation.· Geopolitics (e.g. Chinese aggression in Indian Ocean, Syrian Refugee Crisis)Also make sure you are up to date on FACTS. It is these FACTS that will help you frame and write a better essay. You don’t need to go into too much details but you need to be aware of the basics. So make sure you are still reading up on Current Affairs.How to write a superb essay? Essay is perhaps going to be the most important exercise for this paper. It could carry upto 50 marks, hence special attention is required to be paid to it. To be able to write a good essay we must first know some possible purpose(s) that a test essay serves:-a) to show that you are able to select relevant ideas and information to answer a questionb) to show your knowledge and understanding of the topicc) to show your ability in presenting a logical argumentd) to show your skills in organizing your ideas systematicallye) to show your ability to use sophisticated languagef) to show your basic grasp of Language grammar and vocabularyCharacteristics of a good essay:-1. Unity:- An essay must be a unity, developing one theme with a definite purpose. The subject must be clearly defined in mind and kept in view throughout. Nothing that is not relevant to it should be admitted to the essay. At the same time, the subject may be treated in a variety of ways and from different points of view.2. Order:- The essay should follow a certain line of thought and come to a definite conclusion. It should not consist of haphazard reflections put down anyhow.3. Brevity:- An essay should be brief exercise, concisely expressed.4. The personal touch:- An essay should reveal the personal feelings and opinions of the writer. It should have his individuality in it.Organisation of an essay:- As we have always known, 3 parts (Introduction, Body, Conclusion). The order should be:1. Introduction2. Background/ Related History3. Main concept/ theory/ What the subject is about4. Current scenario related to it5. Good sides6. Negative sides/ obstacles7. Suggested reforms/ what the government is already doing about it8. ConclusionSix honest servants:- Why, What, Where, How, Who, WhenSome do’s1. If given choice, select the topic in which you have an in depth knowledge (though there was no choice offered in CHSL descriptive)2. Include relevant dimension: Social, economic, political, judicial, administrative, historical, humanitarian, environmental, geographical, ethical, moral, women, oppressed sections etc.3. Be balanced: Wherever applicable4. Use quotes: To validate your points. However use them only when you remember correctly.5. Use facts and examples6. Try to complete an idea within the paragraph & introduce a new idea in the next paragraph.Some don’ts1. Repeat yourself2. Beat around the bush3. Be a radical/extremist in opinion4. Be factually incorrect5. Make grammatical errors6. Personalize7. Point out any particular person, organization in negative sense except for terrorist organizations8. Too many facts, quotes and others’ opinions.Letter / Application Writing:- This could carry upto 30 marks.Most of the preparation for letters is same as essay’s. However the other areas where you need to focus upon are:-1. The most important thing in letter writing is its format so you should know the proper format of both.2. Introductory paragraph, main body and closing body should be in proper place as it will play a major role.3. Practice both type of letter i.e. formal and informal. Although I asserted earlier that informal letter seems unlikely to be asked but then who knows. Exams are unpredictable.Precis Writing:- It might carry 20-30 marks.A précis is a summary of a lengthy article. It is the gist or main theme of a passage expressed in as few words as possible. Hence it is an exercise in comprehension. It should be lucid, succinct and full (i.e. including all essential points), so that on reading it may be able to grasp the main points and general effect of the passage summarized.Few tips for Precis:1. First carefully read the passage, if necessary, several times, apprehend clearly its main theme or general meaning.2. Examine the passage in detail, to make sure of the meaning of each sentence, phrase and word.3. Since you have already understood what the passage is saying, write the précis in your own words. Use words which can encompass several words. Try not to rewrite sentences as they are.4. You may drop sentences that you think are redundant.5. This topic will require a lot of practice. Try to practice one-word substitution type of questions.6. Express the meaning and the central message of paragraph in your own words.7. Remember not to exceed the word limit by a huge margin. 2 words more or less will not be an issue. The whole point of writing a précis is how precise yet clear and expressive you can be.Thank you for reading this long article.
