Today she's on the front lines of a religious war that has fractured the Republican Party. Martin, a 52-year-old mother of three, and her husband David, a stockbroker, are lifelong Republicans but hadn't been active in party politics for many years until they happened to attend a local GOP meeting last spring.They were appalled by what they found. The party apparatus had been taken over by religious activists intent on bringing "biblical principles" to government: outlawing abortion, ostracizing homosexuals and teaching creationism in public schools, among other things. Then they appointed themselves leaders and made key decisions. Once they took over the local leadership throughout the State of Iowa, they could control the state party apparatus. After their success in the Iowa '88 primary, they used the same tactic in several other states -- precinct by precinct.Republican State Party Platforms began to get pretty interesting in 1992. The Republican Party of Washington State in 1992 outlawed witchcraft and yoga classes.Taking Over the Republican PartyWho is Jerry Falwell:In 1984... According to an article in Church and State magazine,"Sloan did so, Falwell refused to pay and Sloan successfully sued. Falwell appealed, with his attorney charging that the Jewish judge in the case was prejudiced. Some people believe that since all substances labeled as addictive and that it is a choice to use it or not use it. thus, the outcome wouldn’t be a medical condition it would be an after effect of using the substance, the same as after effects from OTC and prescription drugs aren’t labeled a disease, they are called after effects—too bad, so sad. Business Insider confirmed the identity of the patient, a married father of four.The man's wife, 14-year-old daughter, and 22-year-old son were all diagnosed with the virus, along with his rabbi, neighbor, friend, that friend's wife, and three of their four children. In total, the man has been linked to around 54 cases. Westchester County has 108 patients as of Tuesday.On Tuesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo enforced a one-mile "containment area" around New Rochelle, believed to be the epicenter of the state's outbreak, in a bid to halt the spread of the virus.Patients have also tested positive in Rockland County, Nassau County, Saratoga County, Ulster County, and Suffolk County. New York City has reported 36 cases.State officials declared a state of emergency on March 7.Washington has confirmed nearly 180 cases of the virus and 23 deaths. He was diagnosed in Williamson County, part of the Nashville metropolitan area. Health officials said he returned from an out-of-state trip less than a week ago.Williamson County closed its schools for disinfection on Friday and Monday.A patient, who is being treated in Memphis, Tennessee, prompted officials to put more than 70 others in quarantine, according to WMC-TV. The people who are in isolation include an employee of the Shelby County Schools District, a University of Tennessee faculty member, and two students from Southwest Tennesee Community College.Hawaii has reported two cases, including a passenger onboard the Grand Princess cruise ship.Princess Cruises' Grand Princess ship. The man had recently returned from Washington state.Minnesota has three cases. The patient, a Ramsey County resident, developed symptoms on February 25 after going on a cruise.
