Here’s my answer to a similar question:Why don't people in Florida and other Southern states promote eating of the boas and pythons that have escaped?Because as apex predators the pythons in Florida have become the reservoir of all the heavy metals (mercury, lead, etc) that have been released into the environment over the years. Testing by the State of Florida has found the meat of pythons captured in South Florida to contain un-healthy levels of these heavy metals. Just like other apex predators, like swordfish and tuna in the oceans, pythons eat prey that eat other prey that eat other prey that eat plants and other organisms that absorb trace amounts of toxins. Occasionally.I don’t *not* shop there for some ethical reason. If I did, then I’d be a raging hypocrite for preferring Target: a company that is way harder on its managers (with stupid rules for promotion that block out well-qualified people on account of missing a bachelors degree), pays worse than Walmart, works its hourlies the same way with crappy benefits BUT who just gets (**cough** buys **cough**) better press. I shop at Target because I don’t hate myself and am prepared to pay like 2% more on average to get a superior shopping experience. Target stores are clean enough to perform surgery on their floors, they have way better customer service, they sell clothing that I’ll actually wear and there’s that one super-hot guy who works at the one on MLK in St. Pete who wears really tight clothing, loves showing off what he’s got and KNOWS that I basically puppy-stalk his ass around the store when he’s working and I happen in there.Now, I do shop at Walmart occasionally. They have their Walmart Curbside service that is a thing of beauty. I have an app, I can order all my shit (the stuff that they do for curbside), I pay for it online. Then, I drive up to their inconveniently located store (which sometimes isn’t worth it and I’ll just pop into Publix & Target, located adjacent to each other AND with the benefit of maybe seeing Tight-Pants Tony), pull into the orange awning covered area (bright orange, like “can be seen from orbit” orange). Once there, they perform some black magic juju and know it’s me (the license plate) and come running out with all my stuff and load it in my trunk. They’ve never made a single mistake yet on any items and they upgrade to the next best item in stock if my item is out (no extra charge).
