Lol, come on now, it's bad, but not quite that bad. I have had some experience with what your question is pertaining to. Once, a long time ago when I was serving time at a medium custody prison in Yuma, AZ, they had sent a bunch of us to a privately owned prison in Pecos, TX which was owned by the Geo Corporation. It was a new facility, in every way. Most if not all of the guards included… new to the job. We broke them in rather quickly, I think, but anyway, I had a back tooth which was partially broken off in an incident. At least enough to expose the nerve, I was in truly exquisite pain which came in waves of high intensity, with brief periods lasting only a few seconds of remission. It's like there was a man with a jackhammer in there, and every so often he had to take a short break, reluctantly, from exhaustion. I put in a kite for a visit to the dentist, which resulted in my being seen about a week and a half later. I suppose this was a pretty dangerous week and a half for me, and anyone around me because I didn't manage that pain very well, and couldn't sleep except for catnaps that were interrupted by jailhouse noise. Anyway, so the dentist was a kinda petite woman who was actually an army dentist, working part time to cover the prison. I didn't envy her, the broken off tooth was most of the way back on my lower jaw. She wound up putting her knee in my chest and grabbing onto it with pliers, and yanking with all her strength. And cracking off the tooth at my gumline. She apologized, and said that she didn't feel able to dig the broken off roots out of my jawbone without doing damage to me. I was given some ibuprofen and another apology.So, to answer you, in hindsight, it was better to be in the private prison needing medical care. And at the time, I probably would've been okay with a bullet to the heart.

Here's my two cents. I've lived in Chennai for 12 years and I'm currently in Bangalore for the past 6 years.1. Weather - Yes, Chennai is hot and humid but once you start living there, you'll find out that weather is unbearable only for two-three months in a year. The rest of the year, the weather is pleasant and you have the cool sea breeze in the evenings.2. Transportation - Chennai has a massive upper hand in this. In addition to buses (which ply from every terminus and depot), you also have access to local trains (three separate lines) and share autos. And radio cabs.3. Roads - Once again, Chennai has the upper hand. Wide, well planned roads and very less congestion compared to Bangalore during peak hours.4. Night Life - Yes, Chennai has pubs which are open 24hr but they are all located in 5 star hotels. Chennai has a rule which makes it mandatory to have atleast 10 rooms or 20 letable beds to serve alcohol. So therefore it's expensive to go pubbing or clubbing in Chennai. Also, there's a dress code. So if you're used to going to Pecos in your shorts for a pint on a Sunday afternoon, you're not going to get it here.5. Hangouts / Restaurants - Yes, Chennai does have a variety of places you can go to, however, these restaurants will mostly not serve alcohol. So it's food only. Bangalore's got a upper hand here. But Chennai has a very strong street food culture which is lacking in Bangalore.6. The Beach - Chennai has quite a few beaches. Besant Nagar, Marina, Thiruvanmiyur and the coastline along ECR. The closest Bangalore came to having a beach when there used to be a lounge called The Beach on Indiranagar 100ft road.7. Education - Schools are old fashioned in Chennai, which amounts to strong discipline when it comes to studies. There's no PU College system in Chennai, instead you go to a good old 11th and 12th. College wise, plenty of choices - Medical, Engineering, Architecture, Arts & Science. You name it.8. Culture - Once again, Chennai has a rich culture owing to the fact that families have been staying there for eons. Bangalore has had a transient population for a while and during festivals, everyone goes home. So compared to Chennai, you'll see less celebrations in Bangalore.9. Old Fashioned Shopping - Love going to Commercial Street for your shopping. Multiply that by 5 and viola- You have Pondy Bazar, Ranganathan Street, Ritchie Street, et all.10. Family Outing - Go for a drive along the ECR and check into any of ka-zillion beach resorts there. Want to go to a amusement park? Fear not - MGM Dizzie World, Kishkintha, Queensland, VGP Golden Beach.11. Movie Tickets - Hahahaha. There's a cap on movie ticket prices and you pay no more than 120 for a movie even at the swankiest movie theater. Still looking at the ticket for your brought at INOX Garuda for 350? :PI can on and on but here's the bottom line. If you're in the age category of 23 - 28, love partying and generally being youth - Bangalore is the place for you. But if you're thinking of raising a family, and bored of getting drunk every other weekend, Chennai isn't a bad place. And don't worry about the language either, just make an effort to speak in broken Tamil and you'll be surprised at the warmth that you'll receive.Hope this helps.
