Was the Kempeitai just as bad or worse than the Gestapo?

They were on par with the SS. They were just as cruel and tortured just as many.“The Kenpeitai (憲兵隊, "Military Police Corps", /kɛnpeɪˈtaɪ/), also known as Kempeitai, was the military police arm of the Imperial Japanese Armyfrom 1881 to 1945. It was both a conventional military police and a secret police force. In Japanese-occupied territories, the kenpeitai also arrested or killed those who were suspected of being anti-Japanese. ““The Kenpeitai ran extensive criminal and collaborationist networks, extorting vast amounts of money from businesses and civilians wherever they operated. They also ran the Allied prisoner of war system, which often treated captives with extreme brutality. Many of the abuses were documented in Japanese war crimes trials, such as those committed by the Kempeitai East District Branch in Singapore.”“The Kenpeitai also carried out revenge attacks against prisoners and civilians. For example, after Colonel Doolittle's raid on Tokyo in 1942, the Kenpeitai carried out reprisals against thousands of Chinese civilians and captured airmen, or in 1943 the Double Tenth massacre which was in response to an Allied raid on Singapore Harbour. They also supplied 600 men, women and children per year for Unit 731, where infamous human experiments were conducted.”For more posts like this go to q/anotherpointofviewKenpeitai - WikipediaMilitary unit The Kenpeitai ( 憲兵隊 , "Military Police Corps" , / k ɛ n p eɪ ˈ t aɪ / ) , also known as Kempeitai , was the military police arm of the Imperial Japanese Army from 1881 to 1945. It was both a conventional military police and a secret police force. In Japanese-occupied territories , the kenpeitai also arrested or killed those who were suspected of being anti-Japanese. While it was institutionally part of the army, the Kenpeitai also discharged the functions of the military police for the Imperial Japanese Navy under the direction of the Admiralty Minister (although the IJN had its own much smaller Tokkeitai ), those of the executive police under the direction of the Home Minister and those of the judicial police under the direction of the Justice Minister . A member of the corps was called a kenpei (憲兵). [1] History [ edit ] Kenpeitai officers aboard a train in 1935. Doolittle Raider U.S. Army Air Force Lt. Robert L. Hite, is led from a Japanese transport plane by men of the Kenpeitai. The Kenpeitai was established in 1881 by a decree called the Kenpei Ordinance ( 憲兵条例 ) , figuratively "articles concerning gendarmes". [2] Its model was the National Gendarmerie of France. Details of the Kenpeitai's military, executive, and judicial police functions were defined by the Kenpei Rei of 1898, [3] which was amended twenty-six times before Japan's defeat in August 1945. The force initially consisted of 349 men. The enforcement of the new conscription legislation was an important part of their duty, due to resistance from peasant families. The Kenpeitai's general affairs branch was in charge of the force's policy, personnel management, internal discipline, as well as communication with the Ministries of the Admiralty, the Interior, and Justice. The operation branch was in charge of the distribution of military police units within the army, general public security and intelligence. [ citation needed ] In 1907, the Kenpeitai was ordered to Korea [4] where its main duty was legally defined as "preserving the peace", although it also functioned as a military police for the Japanese army stationed there. This status remained basically unchanged after Japan's annexation of Korea in 1910 . The Kenpeitai maintained public order within Japan under the direction of the Interior Minister, and in the occupied territories under the direction of the Minister of War . Japan also had a civilian secret police force, Tokkō , which was the Japanese acronym of Tokubetsu Kōtō Keisatsu ("Special Higher Police") part of the Interior Ministry. However, the Kenpeitai had a Tokkō branch of its own, and through it discharged the functions of a secret police . When the Kenpeitai arrested a civilian under the direction of the Justice Minister, the arrested person was nominally subject to civilian judicial proceedings. The Kenpeitai's brutality was particularly notorious in Korea and the other occupied territories. The Kenpeitai were also abhorred in Japan's mainland as wehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenpeitai

What were the tactical errors by the Wakandans in the Battle of Wakanda, and what would have been more tactically sound strategies?

MCU Wakanda has one of the least-effective militaries I’ve ever seen. I think a single US army division could’ve flattened them within a day. Now, to be fair, most of these errors are strategic (long-term planning) as opposed to tactical (immediate execution), but I’ll go through the full list:Strategic:No air force. Air support is key and the Wakandans have virtually noneNo long range weaponry. Line-of-sight is hopelessly outmoded.Inefficient weaponry. You don’t want the gun that “does the most damage.” You want the gun that does just enough damage to the most targets. Simply put: would you rather a gun that can vaporize a single person, or a gun that can put standard bullets into the heads of 10 people in the same amount of time?Lack of Armor. Self-explanatory.Critically understaffed military. I get that your civilization relies on stealth, but seriously, if you don’t have enough soldiers to patrol your own border, it doesn’t take a military genius to realize you’ve got issues. No terrain modifications. No landmines. No fortresses. No machine gun nests. No barbed wire. Not even a bloody trench. Seriously? Their fortifications would’ve been outdated in 500 BC!No mechanized units. Seriously, their fighters walk to the battlefield. No use of vibranium. Why is every Wakandan not walking around in a vibranium suit? Or even just a few vibranium tanks?Seriously, just look at them! No helmets, no body armor. The only person here carrying an actual anti-personnel weapon ins Bucky. No mortars or machine-guns, no fortifications, no barbed wire or trenches, no tank support, no air support.I could go on, and on, and on…But what’s the point? It’s obvious that Wakanda’s military readiness is on par with a drunk who realizes he’s driven to the bar and has no way home. So, let’s talk about what Wakanda should have done given even the events of the film (a day or so).Tactical:Mobility. Seriously? Buy some trucks. They don’t even have to be fancy trucks. Just enough so you can actually reposition when you get flanked.Literally, just fly someone over the border to a Jeep dealership and buy all the pickup trucks they have in stock. That way, when the outriders charge you, you can drive away from them while still shooting.Air Support. Buy some helicopters. Literally, that would counter Thanos’ creature’s 100%. They’re tough and can jump, but they can’t jump 100m straight up.Again, they don’t have to be good helicopters. Just get some surplus commercial ones, and park a few of those energy spear-wielders in the back.Simple explosives.Go back and watch that scene again. Now, I want you to look at how well Black Panther fights. See how much damage he does. How many of those monsters he kills with his bare hands. Now, compare that to Warmachine (Rhodie). And here’s the thing: Warmachine is using pretty much only conventional military tech (except for the flying suit). Those carpet bombs? They actually exist (and are much more deadly in real life). That shoulder gun? That’s also bigger in real life. And there’s 0 reason you couldn’t take a standard recommissioned rescue chopper, fill it with explosives, and have someone manually drop them out the back.Intentional Breach. Yeah, that’s not how you do it. Believe it or not, those used to be standard doctrine (400–500 years ago). What you do is leave an opening for enemies to exploit, then seal the opening after enough enemies get through. That second part is important- it means that you can let enemies into a kill zone without risking being overwhelmed (which is exactly what happens in the movie)Q: BUT-BUT-BUT- (I hear the critics say) But what if the energy shield has a cool-down time? What if you can’t bring it back up?A: Excellent question! Believe it or not, ancient walls couldn’t be instantly repaired either!Which is why you prepare a couple big rocks you can drop into position. Or dig a tunnel, then collapse it, leading to a big ditch. Or (the easiest, especially against movie monsters), cover the ground of the gap with napalm and set it on fire.Body armor. Seriously, body armor is commercially available. You can literally walk into an army surplus store and buy some. There is 0 reasons the Wakandan infantry aren’t all wearing kevlar ballistic weave.Battle spacing. Now, some people are criticizing the “battle line” but I actually think that’s reasonable. You don’t do that in modern combat because it’s too exposed to line-of-fire attacks, but against melee combatants, it works great. But here’s a simple question: Why line up within sprinting distance of that big, magic energy shield? Why not a mile back? That extra few hundred yards gives whatever air-force you’ve got more time to thin the incoming beasties. It gives more room for explosives. And it gives you more time to shoot before they close the gap.Battle spacing 2.0.And for the love of everything holy, why the hell would a ranged force charge INTO a melee force?Take advantage of natural defenses. So you’re fighting an enemy stronger and faster than you. Perhaps (and this is just an idea) putting a wall between you and them might be a good idea. No?Yes, I’m talking about evacuating civilians from the city and fighting from within the walls. I mean, you realize the city literally has a lake holding its flank, right?Like, I don’t know if those monsters can swim or not, but I’m sure as hell that they don’t swim as fast as they can run.Resource allocation. Let’s say you have 2 guys. One’s an engine of destruction capable of lifting tens of thousands of tons. The other is a master of spycraft and CQC. One needs to guard a room against infiltration, the other needs to fight in a battlefield.Great idea. Let’s put the human wrecking ball in the room guarding the VIP, and the master spy on the battlefield. Makes. Sense.Once again, I could go on. But it’s a movie. If you liked it, great! Just ignore the fact that, as I walked out of the theater, I literally heard an eight-year-old saying“But that doesn’t make sense. Why did they have spears and not guns?”
