PDF Editor FAQ

What is something your pet did that you couldn't believe?

How much time do you have?I’ve had a St. Bernard and a HUGE yard. Our sweet Moose would jump over the fence to the neighbors yard and let loose in his yard. Always. This happened to be a cranky old man that didn’t like Moose because she barked when the utility meters were read or 500 other reasons.I think it was attitude that drove her over there. On another occasion I came home from work to see the electric meter man on top of his van and Moose was laying down looking up at him. I asked him how long he had been up there. “all day.” Moose was a cream puff and everyone thought she was Cujo. Why she jumped the fence when he got out of the van eludes me. She never did it again.Moose entered our living room and flopped down and she stunk. I looked at her and said, “Moose you need a bath. You stink!” She left the room and we thought nothing of it. Until bedtime….when we couldn’t find her. We looked everywhere for her. Of course the last place you would look in that house was the bathroom because it was small. Well, the house was small. But that is where we found her. In the tub. She wouldn’t get out. We couldn’t drag her out. So, we gave her a bath before we could go to bed.I had a Papillon that chewed the crotch out of my underwear whenever we went out. Every time. Talk about revenge. He would push our closet door open. It was the kind you opened inward and the light would turn on. There she would find my basket of dirty clothes and abscond with a pair of panties. He would leave them in the middle of the living room so all could see.I had a male collie puppy shred a wooden picnic bench on our patio.I had a collie that had a litter of 12 pups the day I got home from the hospital with a new baby from a C section. The kids were excited about the puppies. We have more video of the puppies in the coming days than our new baby.My husband kept checking on her and counting puppies and noticed one was always not close to mom. He would bring the puppy upstairs and we would wrap him in a towel and put him on the door of our oven to warm him up. We’d then return him to mom. Next time he’d check that put would be away and cold again. Never nursing. Repeat. Repeat, till all 12 were in the world. in the morning there were 11 puppies!!! SHE ATE ONE OF THE PUPPIES!! My vet said it was not healthy and she knew it, etc. etc. but still! I didn’t hear the vet’s answer until the puppies got their first shots.I couldn’t use the steps so I was sleeping on the couch. I made my husband bring her and the puppies up and put her right by me. Every time the poor thing moved I would yell, “Don’t you eat another puppy!”When I was a kid, we had a cat but it was really my brother’s cat. She had a litter of kittens on his pillow above his head while he slept. How would you like to wake up to that?We had a tuxedo cat. Ivy. She was my son’s cat. She would pee on his clothes when he went to school. I had his shut the door. Easy. Right? That cat would sit at his door and meow over and over and over and over until I would lose it and yell up the steps, he’s not in there. He is at school!!! She would stick her head through the banister and make this punnerrrrrow! and come down and was fine the rest of the day. She was at the door when he got home. This was every day. EVERY FLIP’N DAY.My German Shepherd puppy sunk his teeth into a c.1800 cane bottom chair. Now chew it up. Just put his teeth marks in the wood. Now I’ve had a lot of dogs. My current German Shepherd Dog LOVES to play ball. But…….he won’t bring it back. He’ll lie in the yard and stare at you. We finally figured out we needed two balls. He wouldn’t bring the ball back until he saw there was another ball to throw. He’s a little ball obsessive and possessive.I’m stopping now. I’m old and have had too many pets! I’ve loved them all and they all had an interesting personality. This is not part of the answer but is a funny story. At least it was to me. I still can see it taking place and laugh. When I was in the 6th grade, my violin teacher gave me a hamster. I was in heaven. We also had a cat. Yes, the one that birthed on the pillow. Well that little hamster squeezed between the bars and got loose. The cage was downstairs. I hear this yelling, YELLING words I can put down here. The cat had the hamster cornered in the hall by my parent’s bedroom. The was my dad, pushing away the cat with one hand and trying to pickup the hamster with the other hand and the hamster, hysterical, was biting my father’s hand like he was a tiny beaver. He was hopping around, cussing, dropping the hamster and pushing the cat away with his foot like he was in a comedy movie. You can’t make this stuff up! OMH. I have tears running down my face from laughing just telling you this. What a sight. I’ll never forget it. The hamster only lived a year. The scars on my dad’s hand was forever.Thank you so much for asking. I’ve had a wonderful time down memory lane. Still laughing! OMH Breathe.
