My son’s dream is to visit NYC. I get it, I lived in NY for a couple of years when I was about his age. I admit it was a wonderful experience, only sullied by my inevitable growing up and realising that my experience does not reflect on what it means to live in America today, but I digress.Many a-time my boy asked me why we can’t go visit NYC. And my reasons are thus:At this point, I will need to get him a Visa, that will cost me 160–205$ on top of flights/hotels/expenses. [He does not hold a British passport as of yet, and requires a visa to the US.]I find it almost impossible to calculate how much money I will be spending in the US while I visit. Americans tip EVERYWHERE. From the minute I step foot in the US (which I sometimes do for conferences), I feel like I am bleeding money. I find it infuriating, and it doesn’t give me the right type of holiday experience I wish to have. I don’t want to feel like I’m being constantly scammed out of my money (that’s how it feels to us, non-Americans). I find that very soon I become stressed, bitter, and angry. [Note: I understand that tipping culture derives from your tax laws, and that tips are not tax declarable]Number 2 is also true for your “tax-not-included” policies at shops. When I go into a shop, I like to be able to know how much money I am going to spend there. I don’t like feeling like the cashier is about to surprise me with another bomb-shell price.Obviously, I feel being a single mum with a kid, that America is not safe. I remember my mother being mugged once or twice. Things that I have yet to encounter in my hometown of London (I know it happens, but not as brutally and dangerously as it does in NYC).Your food is inedible. Your portions are too big, your veggies are tasteless, and your yogurts are anything but yogurt. My digestion system goes crazy when I visit America, and I detest that feeling.Honestly, I don’t think that at this point in time, NYC can offer me anything that I cannot get here in London. Perhaps some of the art exhibitions. Apart from that, not much.

Trump is selling pardons to his rich and powerful friends who he can relate to. Their crimes include abusing the powers of their office, bribery, tax evasion, fraud, and basically any white collar corruption. One person scammed 205 MILLION dollars of our taxpayer money from Medicare, another person had a junk bond scheme that crashed the entire US economy in the late 80’s and hurt millions of people, others cheated the IRS out of tons of money. One thing a lot of these people who he pardoned had in common was that they were donating tons of cash to Trump’s campaign and PACs.Blagojevich tried selling Obama’s senate seat. He got caught making a not so perfect call. Trump can relate to that. He can also relate to people who commit bribery, fraud like Trump University and the Trump foundation, tax evasion like tax evasion that caused Trump’s sister to vacate her seat as a federal judge to avoid an investigation in NY, and he can relate to abusing the powers of his office because he’s doing it by issuing these pardons. He’s also setting it up so he can pardon Roger Stone, Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn.Trump feels like he can do anything after surviving impeachment and is likely to do a whole lot more in the months to come. I hope he keeps on making himself look more and more criminal because the Republicans down the ballot are going to be held accountable for everything he does from now until November and they are defending a whole lot of senate seats this election that shouldn’t be so competitive if it weren’t for Trump’s unethical and swampy behavior. Bill Barr is the only thing keeping him and his friends insulated and he’s going too far even for Barr to keep covering for him.

Ok, those that were caught there will get 20 years prison sentences, and that is just for sedition, trump signed that executive order to cater to his racists that give a 10 year sentence for even graffitiing a state property, remember? But here is another thing about pardons, they are for federal crimes only, local charges (which some will be) can not be pardon by the president! Because his attorney told him to disassociate himself from them to escape prosecution! Your chosen one right? You would die for him, right? How about spending 20 years in prison for him? It’s better than dying, isn’t it?Now, let’s move to 2024, as the OP questioned, according to the facts above most of those charged will probably be in prison still, you make a deal, get 15 to 20 and after good behavior you get out, let’s say in 7 years, most will still have another few years to go in their sentences! But, what about the all powerful, the Stable Genius, the evangelical’s “Chosen One”, the “Leader”, the “Strong Man, the “Best Deal Maker Ever”, the Best “Negotiator”, blah, blah, blah…It seems that as soon as the senate comeback the democrats will have the tie braking vote, and although it takes 2/3 to remove him(there will be no need for that, his term will be over) it only take a one vote majority to strip him of his rights to ever hold office again! And I’m pretty sure that after January 6th the democrats and the biden administration, and even the republicans will make sure to prosecute him for every single crime they can find, and there are a lot, he have 3.700 conflicts of interest while in office, him and his family robbed this country blind, as did the republicans and those in his administration!
