There are so many variables that it's difficult to give one straight answer without knowing more about your situation. For instance, why do you want him to file instead of you? This will cause them to divorce you, especially if they beleive it's the death knell. Esaentially, let the narc think they've won, you're ruined.In the meantime, you need to plan and to get as much done under the radar as possible.Seek out a crisis center. They have everything a person could need to exit an abusive relationship. The counseling I received there was invaluable. They helped me to see the abuse for what it was (and that it wasn't me, or my fault and I wasn't crazy at all). They got me set up with pro-bono attorneys, helped me file for a PFA, told me how to separate financially without his knowing about it and helped me make two plans of escape; one emergency and the other less dramatic. They were even there in the middle of the night, with a hotline to call, when I was scared out of my mind, or needed advice or support.In short, get help, trust no one, keep as quiet and boring as possible, whilst making it seem as though a divorce would do you in for certain.I hope that helps a bit.
