The UK has intelligence agencies called MI5 and MI6, but what happened to MI1, MI2, MI3 and MI4?

Mostly they were rolled up into the big three:The Security Service (counterespionage, widely known as MI5),The Secret Intelligence Service (espionage, widely known as MI6)GCHQ (signals intelligence)Some were transferred to other government agencies or were disbanded. Here’s the full list:MI1 - merged with the Navy’s ‘Room 40’ to become the Government Code and Cypher School, which became GCHQ.MI2, MI3, MI14 - geographically organised intelligence departments, all became part of MI6.Mi4 Air Intelligence - became the Joint Air Photographic Intelligence Centre, which still exists.MI7 Propaganda. Transferred to the Ministry of Information.MI8 Signals interception. Became part of GCHQ.MI9 Helping Prisoners of war to escape. Disbanded.MI10 Technical Intelligence. Became part of GCHQ.MI11 Field Security. Disbanded.MI12 Censorship. Transferred to the Ministry of Information.MI13 Special Operations. Became part of MI6.MI15 Aerial photography. Transferred to the Air Ministry.MI16 Scientific Intelligence. Became part of MI6.MI17 Secretariat. Disbanded.MI19 Prisoner of War interrogation. Disbanded.

Can a helicopter be made as big as an Airbus A380?

Current largest helicopter in production Mi26 can lift an airplane with ease.It can carry 90 troops in miletary configuration or 60 passengers in commarcial setting and that is absolutely huge for an helicoptor. The World's Largest Helicopter Can Lift An Airliner With Remarkable EaseHowever I would highly doubt the technical feasibility of a helicoptor which is of the size of A380 or lets just say can carry 500+ passengers. I would not enter the discussion about how utterly useless the design would be as the only place i can see a practicle use of it is if some one wants to drop 500 people on an island which is not long enough to hold a runway (May be the Russians could have built it but that hope is no more now that cold war is over ;) )The blades of Mi26 are same as wing span of one A320 wing so you can imagin that they are absolutely huge. However largest ever helicoptor is not Mi26 it is as shown below:Mil MI12WORLDS LARGEST HELICOPTER Russian Mil V 12 Mi 12 bigger than us army Boeing CH-47 ChinookSo as you can see that this is more of an A320 with rotors. It was designed to carry 40 tons of load so technically it could lift 500 normal sized humans in the air (there...it can be done!, mission accomplished)(I just had fun imagining 500 people in that space just imagine if someone felt like answering nature's call... Man... You got to hold it we are in the Air...! ;) and we forgot the toilets on ground ;), may be some extra people could be hanged inside few sacks just to enjoy the paragliding experience for free and save some space in the cabin... ;-))Jokes apart:As the size of the craft will increase so will the requirement for bigger blades and material science will come into play (material like that will be really hard to find.) And not to mention large blades of that size, if at all possible, at the tips will have supersonic speeds which will again lead to aerodynamic limits technically to how fast the blade can spin and I am sure that with that kind of spin there will not be enough lift to pull that much mass in the air.If at all a craft like that will be made it will never be made out of materails we commarcially know today may be carbon nano tubes or some super light and super strong foam or something completely new (whenever we get the technology to make them in tons and use them too). And please don't be inspired by the Avenger class flying ships from the movie, they are not coming any sooner than the appereance of Thor in the realm of the mortals.(Where one of the giant rotors was stuck and Iron Man managed to super spin it to keep the ship aflot, to whoever said bollywood movies are funny he he)(By the way I am a big fan of Avengers movie ;-)) !

We have all heard of MI5 and MI6 for domestic and foreign intelligence. Is there an MI1 or an MI7? What do they do, if they do exist?

The initials MI mean Military Intelligence, and here is a list of departments of the British Directorate of Military Intelligence, which date back to World War I, many of which were dissolved or merged with other departments/agencies.MI1 - Codes & Cyphers. This was closed down in 1919 and was merged with the Government Code & Cypher School, which later became the GCHQ.MI2 - Information on Middle and Far East, Scandinavia, US, USSR, Central and South America.MI3 - Information on Eastern Europe and the Baltic Provinces (plus USSR and Scandinavia after summer 1941).MI4 - Geographical section—maps (transferred to Military Operations in April 1940). Its current successor agency is the Defence Intelligence Fusion Centre.MI5 - Domestic Intelligence and Security. Now properly known as the Security Service. This is now attached to the Home Office.MI6 - Foreign Intelligence and Security. Now properly known as the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), it is now attached to the Foreign Office.MI7 - Press and Propaganda. This was transferred to the Ministry of Information in May 1940.MI8 - Signals interception and communications security.MI9 - Escaped British PoW debriefing, escape and evasion (also: enemy PoW interrogation until 1941).MI10 - Technical Intelligence.MI11 - Military Security.MI12 - Censorship. Liaison with censorship organisations in Ministry of Information, military censorship.MI13 - Undocumented Intelligence and Special Operations.MI14 - Germany and German-occupied territories.MI15 - Aerial photography. In the spring of 1943, aerial photography moved to the Air Ministry and MI15 became air defence intelligence.MI16 - Scientific Intelligence. This was formed in 1945.MI17-Secretariat for the Director of Military Intelligence from April 1943.MI18-(Officially a fictional section).MI19-Enemy POW Intelligence. It's legit the most worse experience I've had using an editing software.. I was working on my video so I can actually upload something on youtube and it took me a long 3 hours at least because it kept on shutting down and when I was just finished with it.. I decided to export it and upload it on youtube. When it was finished uploading, I had a look on it to see if everything was alright but what I saw almost made me want to punch my laptop.. there was massive watermark logo right on the middle on my video 'CocoDoc Filmora'! What made me really p**sed off about it was that it was right on the middle of my video.. they just couldn't put a small one somewhere on the corner because they just love making you waste your money on something they can just give you for free! I'm not asking too much am I? I mean again they still could've put the watermark on the corner of my video...
