I turned 23 yesterday.When I was a kid, my image of turning 23 involved me in an uber cool job, travelling the world, and being one of those cool independent women with drama filled lives like the ones shown in movies.Yesterday, I moved into my apartment, bought my own furniture, and set the entire house in a day. I’ve finally stopped cribbing about being in a dead end job, and am totally enjoying my stay in Bhopal. I’ve begun appreciating a drama free life, and couldn’t be happier!Turning 23 has been extremely pleasant for me. If nothing else, I’m inching closer towards the image I had of the 23-year-old me, as a kid. :)

Well, from a financial perspective BCA is almost 10 times more valuable than Indofood. BCA has a market cap of IDR554,682 Billion, while Indofood’s market cap is IDR63,219 Billion.But let’s get philosophical: Is money really the only measurement of value?As a financial institution in the private sector, BCA, as monetarily valuable as they are, does not create real value. Their function in society is merely as lubricants that help facilitate the flow of money around the economy. A function that, were the company to suddenly disappear tomorrow, will be completely filled almost instantaneously by others.Meanwhile Indofood, through their flagship product Indomie:Feeds hundreds of Millions of people annuallyIs a source of national prideProvides nutrition to the population (Now rich in vitamin B12)Combats poverty: Helps poor people (mainly university students) save moneyPromotes cultural differencesAmong many other things.Unlike BCA, if Indofood and Indomie were to disappear tomorrow, lives will be greatly impacted.That is probably the true definition of valuable.Yuck.
