Someone pointed out to me all these ads (with one exception) from the 70’s that ran in print (the 4th one down is dated precisely 50 years ago in the top R hand corner) >This (above) is a bit of a cheat as I found it among 1970’s ads. The car was made as late as 1966 but this ad I discovered later is from the later 50’s. It catches the spirit here of a oh-so-refined disrespect towards women yet juxtaposed with an indisputable artfulness that was achieved with much effort. The composition is exquisite as is the drama & focus of the lighting & shading (film noir geometric in colour in some places (the back seat), flood lit in others & delicately shaded elsewhere, as the eye glides from left to right on a 50’s red & white art deco interior. At the end you find the woman staring away from the man in awe & clearly charmed by the car interior - with a door as barrier very deliberately between them (to clearly show no back seat shenanigans are imminent, which were very common in the era). He’s in a black tux to amplify his gentlemanly nature, contrasted by the white part of the two tone, red & white element on the front seat. (Vivid in particular) Red of course is the most passionate colour implying just that & carnal desire & she’s very purposely dressed as a scarlet lady encouraging you to transfer your response to her to the red car. He’s looking at only her, not the car & the yearning in his eyes for her is clearly evident but just subdued enough. All but the red (& his borderline lustful/awestruck stare) being an attempt to distance them from the implications of that extraordinary ad title (with an exclamation mark no less) - in that extraordinarily expressive, custom made font (notice how the e’s purposefully & energetically penetrate the letters they’re next to - very intentional, subliminal messaging). This was also a Pontiac, not a Cadillac or even a Buick, so baser desires go a little more easily with the brand.I think even then they knew they were potentially playing with dynamite & fussed over this image to get the attention they wanted w/o getting any they didn’t.“1970: Datacomp has a computer anyone can use ... even women!”How then did this ad run in print 12 years ago (as of this writing in 2021)? A bit of a trick question as revealed below the ad >It didn’t - in North America, but did in Singapore (for a limited run) created by an agency there, where their attitudes towards women are somewhere between the (pre?) 70’s in N.A. & today.— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —This 2015 TV ad (premiering for the most high testosterone, market, the Superbowl but then appearing elsewhere) seems to pointedly catch the spirit of the above ads - even as it would not be acceptable in newspapers/magazines today or in nearly as vivid a way. Is it any different then the above ads & if so in what meaningful way? It seems substantially the same. What subtleties make this OK & the others not? Think about it. >

Okay I didn't even make it into jury selection in Contra Costa County, California, but I got a double exemption when I called in to check about being on a jury. With the purpose of postponing my jury duty. From March 2021 to later in the year. So when I was talking to the clerk over the phone I gave her a medical excuse that she's never heard and would not fly pre-covid pandemic, I told the clerk that I wouldn't be a good juror at this time due to the fact that I had gotten the virus early in the pandemic from going to a convention that had a bunch of Chinese vendors (I work security at the main door so everybody passed by me). This left me with low lung capacity and persistent cough that I was being treated for but I believed I would be a distraction in the courtroom and possibility considered a health risk by the other jurors(think typhoid Mary), to which the clerk responded ‘Yes we can postpone your service for that reason considering how much your coughing just on this call'. She gave me a date for August to appear and I asked her where i was going to have appear because the courthouse that I had previously been a juror at was shut down because of the pandemic. So instead of going to the local courthouse which is literally 5 minutes from me it would have taken me on public transit as I do not own a vehicle two and a half hours with multiple stops. The county has a cap of 45 minutes travel for its jurors.Another time in 2012 Sacramento, California, I was detained by a bailiff because I was ‘running a scam' in the jury pool, what I was actually doing was reading a book in the snack room it was off the main waiting room as it's easier for me to read with the book on a table. And because I had been on jury pools a few times at that courthouse I knew the change machine was junk and only worked about half the time. So before I went for the weak that I was required to show up I had called my bank and exchanged $120 in quarters. Taking $20 every day I spent the week making change for people because the machine was broken it is something I've done two or three times before the only difference is this time I had a coin quarter dispenser on my bag (The type you would see in the old school arcades or at a Sonic Burger on the servers belts). It was true that I would have about $3 to $5 more at the end of every day but that's because people would give me their change I never asked for it. What saved me was a judge he had duct his head into the juror's snack room because apparently ours had Cheetos and that was his favorite, they only cost $0.85 a bag I had given him the four quarters he had given me his change instead of keeping it himself.Then later in 2015 Sacramento County sent me a failure to appear notice and that if I did not respond I would be in contempt of court and arrested. I had been working in the Bay area while living in Sacramento couch surfing and so missed the first jury summons, on the second round I had already moved out and my sister had moved in taking over the property. Second summons getting lost in the mail, the third summons finally reached me two months after I was supposed to appear at my new address in Contra Costa County. Having been forwarded by the postal Service. Calling them up I told them the situation that I was over a hundred miles from the court and had not lived legally in the county since 2014. Having couch surfed until I found a place that was close to my new job. They canceled the fine and the warrant because I was able to show them by email when my change of address was and that I had voted in Contra Costa County. Which is how California gets its jury pool through voter registration.

However, according to the stats released by the school, for the class of 2021, 3,116 students were admitted out of an applicant pool of 26,578, which makes for an overall acceptance rate of 11.7%. And this percentage is even lower if you factor out the ED acceptances.There’s a lot of conflicting information about the acceptance rates for each school year, but the overall trend appears to be that they are decreasing as college applications become more competitive.Hope that helped!
