PDF Editor FAQ

Can you get a fee waiver to file a petition for probate in California?

I think so. Call the probate clerk in your local Superior Court.

Can a university provost deny a student part of their financial aid? I received notice that the provost has decided I shall not receive my tuition waiver based on academic performance. I’m not on academic probation & my cumulative GPA has increased.

The thing is, this isn’t a scholarship. The fee waiver I get is because my mom works there and the only requirement is that you haven’t reached a certain amount of credits.I’m not far from a 3.0 so even if there was a GPA requirement, it wouldn’t be an issue. I feel as if though since I’m eligible for my other aid, the provost’s decision to deny me this part of my aid leaves me in a huge financial bind.It feels like a punishment for struggling because of certain circumstances. But my question is regarding whether or not the provost (who I thought was responsible for academic issues only) can actually deny me this?

As a professional bound by certain practice standards (doctor, other medical care provider, lawyer, accountant, police officer), what have you wanted to tell someone that you didn't because it would have violated your code of standards?

I’m an attorney. I have a probate case with an attorney who is truly disgusting. She’s dishonest, and she lies to the court. I’m 99% certain she lies to me and to her client—-the widow. (Always a sympathetic figure.)I can’t tell the court any of this, because it’s all settlement negotiations. I can’t tell her, because in 5 years, the case will finally get to the point of the only asset being sold and distributed. I can’t start a full on war. This attorney did a poor job from before I was hired. The court had to tell her she had not done things she ought to have done. The court also ruled on her request (denied) for a certain thing because the only asset is non liquid. Now, she’s trying again. Her client incurs no filing fees (hundreds of dollars where I practice) because she is poor and has a fee waiver. Recently, this attorney (who was abusive to me when I called to inquire about a purported settlement offer) told me “your professionalism lacks civility. It was extremely arduous working with you.”I said ““tell me about it!”I hate to say it, but now I’m more than willing to have the widow lose the home in the end. But it’s not the widow’s fault. It’s this ghastly attorney. So sad.
