While shopping one day with my children, another customer ran into me by accident with her shopping cart. The cart hit me square in the back of my leg causing quite a bit of pain.Well i understand that accidents happen but what upset me was the fact that she had not realized that she had hit me, but rather accused me of jumping in front of her cart.She proceeded to yell at me in front of my children.I was in complete disbelief.At this point a manger had come over to find out what had happened and she had told the manager her version of the story. The manager after speaking to her motioned her to come to the service counter where she then immediately left.I don't know what was said to her but I found out later that the manager had seen what had happened and asked her to leave before there were any more issues.I guess she had done it before, not really sureAnyways I finished up my shopping in quite a bit of pain.Thinking back on it it was definitely a great teaching moment for my children on how to handle a difficult situation.

When I was 9, my mother's abusive fiancé (she didn’t know he was abusive as he was poisoning her so she was sick all of the time) was very abusive to my siblings and was grooming me for some not so good things. One day he took my little brother into the bathroom (he was 5) and held him under scalding hot water. My sister and I were in the living room, and there were no screams, so signs something was wrong. Suddenly, my little brother let out a blood curdling scream. His skin was peeling, nearly to the bone. Long story short, he had held my little brother under to try to drown him in boiling hot water but my brother screamed. He was taken to the burn centre in Seattle and eventually told everyone what happened. The whole story came out, and the trial began. On the last few days of the trial, I was called in to testify. I remember seeing him and shaking. I remember him looking me in the eye, and motioning to the jury where a lady winked at me. I began to cry, and that was when he called out “Don’t worry honey, I’ll be okay” and I was taken out of the courtroom as my mother's lawyer began to turn red with anger. On the very last day, the jury decided he was not guilty. He smiled as he left the courtroom, and our lawyer lost it. He yelled and began to cry as he’d felt for us. The officers in the room had to escort him out.(Update;My little brother is now 16 years old, and is doing as well as he can to get over his anger issues and distrust of men. My mother is now with my adopted father, of 9 years, and we are a big happy, slightly dysfunctional family.We never found out why he wasn’t convicted, and we only know that he is down in Montana, probably doing the same things to someone else.I just hope one day, karma bites him in his ass.He is also not any of my siblings father, or mine.Thank you everyone for your support and upvotes!!)Trial begins for man accused of burning child

Sometime in 2011, DeMun Wilburn (Future) released a rap song titled Tony Montana- after the eponymous character in the 1983 classic, Scarface.Now, Future, though talented, was actually high as a kite when he recorded this song! He’d been smoking all day long, to the point where he could barely open his mouth to perform in the booth!His lines were slurred, and his lyrics were barely audible. To grasp any of what he was saying, you’d have had to play back the song several times.Regardless, after Tony Montana was released, it was a hit. The song went on to stay top of the charts for several weeks, garnering well over 24 million plays worldwide.It sold. And it sold well.Soon after, a flurry of young, upcoming rappers attempted to follow in Future’s footsteps, releasing songs containing slurred, mumbled verses, and repetitive hooks.And like Future, they sold! And just like that, the Hip-Hop industry found a way to create the perfect song.Wordplay became secondary. All it took was a dope hook and a good beat, and the song would be a hit.But in the wake of this epiphany, older, more jaded Hip Hop stars begun speaking out.They complained that the new wave had forgotten what made rap culture spectacular in the first place.To them, rap was birthed by a generation of men who wanted to send a message.Hip-Hop, they said, was built on lyricism and wordplay. They talked about their neighborhoods, life in the inner city, and police harassment.They preached their beliefs, however crude, to the world using music as a vehicle. And people who could relate to those stories responded in kind.Rappers became great because they could blend together deep thoughts and words in way that not only flowed rhythmically, but touched those around them.So if you took the words out of that, what was left? The soul had been removed. The core essence that made the genre great was taken away.Sure, it still sounded good. And people still danced to it. But to the OG’s, it wasn’t the same genre any more. It wasn’t their rap.Martin Scorsese, Ford Coppola, and Quentin Tarantino all begun their careers in an era of film where creativity was king.From Pulp Fiction, to Fight Club, every film was distinctive.Each tried to send its own message, and was critiqued on how well-delivered that message was.Sure, there were still action flicks and spectacles, birthed purely for the thrill. But they were hardly the majority. Creativity was king.Marvel took all that, and turned it on its head.They found a formula- a low-effort strategy to produce a hit blockbuster. Filled with massive explosions and CGI fights, and relatively-little emotional connections and underlying messages.Suddenly, no longer do filmmakers need to express a nuanced message through a deeply-layered motion picture. Suddenly, no longer did it take massive creative application to pour your heart into creating a nuanced work of art.The industry that these big directors grew up in is changing before their eyes. Like Hip-Hop, it’s evolving into something totally different from what it was.And of course, everybody has their tastes. Some (myself included) may say that Marvel’s formula is a good thing- they release movies that consumers enjoy, regardless of how contrived they seem.But given the background they come from, it’s easy to see why these older directors criticize the change.
