PDF Editor FAQ

Why does my car dealership’s service department try to sell me services that aren’t on the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule?

Greetings !Car servicing is nothing more then routine maintenance. Like oil changes, air filter cleaning and replacement, tyre rotation, alignment, brake pad changing and curb-rash removal from wheels. Apart from that things like brake fluid, power steering fluid, washer fluid, blinker fluid and other essential oils top may also be reccomended every 10,000-15,000 kilometers. But sometimes service centre staff or the service advice team ,on knowing that you have no knowledge of what all is there on the service checklist, may try to RIP YOU OFF ! By saying things that are not even needed and recommending them to you.HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO PREVENT GETTING RIPPED OFF !Watch YouTube videos on car services so you know a brief description of each procedure. No need to go in detail. Just the basic idea.Whenever you see the checklist, read the entire lines written on each column, and not just the first word. So the staff gets an impression that you are well-versed with the things being done.V.IMP If your car company has specified the service details, labour charges and cost of parts in their website. Eg; Nissan, Toyota and Ford. Then PLEASE go through the site and their prices in advance. So you can contact their call centre if they charge a price much higher then the part and labour charges listed on the site.Say NO to any additional thing they say to do. Eg: high gloss waxing on paint, plastics polishing, brake rotor cleaning etc. As car wash and polishing can be performed by highly professional car-detailing companies at prices much lower then the service centre. And the added benefit is no labour charges. AND BRAKE ROTOR CLEANING IS AN UTTER WASTE OF MONEY. there's NOTHING LIKE THAT DONE TO A CAR OR TRUCK. It's a straight forward rip off. As brake rotors get cleaned regularly each time we apply the brakes and the pads rub against them. So ALWAYS SAY NO TO IT.Hope these tips help you.Have a nice day ahead !

As a car mechanic, what did a customer suggest or ask that made you burst out laughing?

As a car mechanic, what did a customer suggest or ask that made you burst out laughing?I didn't want to answer this at first, but I ended up remembering a certain customer. My day started off normally, per usual, the dispatcher give me a repair order (RO) and I run along. On this particular day the customer was complaining that his sun roof screen was not opening all the way. I find his vehicle and pull it into the shop.A minor detail before I go further. I do not remember exactly what vehicle it was. I am a Ford technician, and most of our models can have the sunroof option.Once I got the vehicle into the shop, I did my preliminary vehicle check. The usual boring stuff like topping off fluids and setting tire pressures. When I was done with my usual checklist, I tried to look at the sunroof. I used the shade screen, found no problems. I used the sun roof itself, and found no problems. Everything seems to be working fine, so I move on. I grab a computer and check for any DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) that may have been set. No codes were set. So far, I have nothing to go on to try and find the customers complaint. Continuing on, I would now go onto Fords Oasis website. This website is available to all Ford technicians and it has all updated information that would be needed to repair there vehicles.Once I was on Oasis, I checked the website for any TSB's or SSM's (technical service bulletins, special services messages). I couldn't find anything related to the customers concern. At this point, I grabbed a flash light and performed a very thorough inspection of the sunroof and shade. I still couldn't find anything wrong with this vehicle. Per Fords recommendations, I would tell the customer that there was no problem found. However, we always try to verify the problem, so I left this with the service advisor “have the customer come in to show us what is happening so we can find the problem”. I got busy on the next job.A couple hours later, I get a call that the customer with the sunroof is here, and he wants to show us the problem. “Great!” I think, because I want to help. I make my way up to the front desks to find what seems like an 70 year old person. I introduce myself and ask him to show me what is going on. We head out to his car and we get in. He opens his sunroof, then says “see?”.I asked him, while pointing to the sunshade “is this what you're concerned about?”He said no and proceeded to point to the air deflector on the front end of the sun roof. “The bug screen isn't opening all the way to cover the sunroof"I easily explained that what he was concerned about way called an air deflector, and the the whole point of it was to redirect airflow to prevent wind noise while driving. He was very understanding and thanked me for my help.Once I was back in the shop, I couldn't help but laugh. I wasn't laughing at the customer, but the odd idea he had come up with. Honestly, I can't blame him, it does resemble an insect net.. It happens all lot, but I'm always happy to teach.

Do you think that the Tesla Cybertruck can compete with the Ford F-150?

Ford Electric F-150 — Credit: motor 1A2A Andrew Kelly—23 Nov 2019.~~~~Q. Do you think that the Tesla Cybertruck can compete with the Ford F-150?A. They are different animals. There are a lot of things you can do with one and not the other. People will buy the truck that fits their situation.I am going to assume we are talking about the Ford ELECTRIC F-150, just to make things simpler. Here is a small checklist that differentiates them a bit:Can I easily fit a sheet of plywood or drywall? — Ford-yes, Tesla-noUPDATE on Dec 7, 2019—Duncan Cairncross has pointed out in a comment below that neither truck fits plywood without the gate down, and Musk has indicated he may install a flip stop for plywood on the gate. Will a 9mm bullet bounce off my frame? Tesla-yes, Ford-noAre repair parts easily available anywhere? Ford-yes, Tesla-noDoes the truck design minimize parts and maximize simplicity? Ford-yes, Tesla-noDo I have to worry about minor dents and paint scratches? Tesla-no, Ford-yesWill I have the best available Autonomous driving and connected vehicle technology? Tesla-yes, Ford-?You see the pattern. You see… there is just no one best truck.~~~~The Ford is great. The Tesla is great. They are WAY different. Some will buy one, and some will buy the other. The leader for some traditional uses will be Ford. The leader for some world-changing technologies will be Tesla.I would like to use them both, but I will buy the Tesla today because it fits my needs better today.Ford Electric F-150 pulls a train — Credit: motor 1~~~~For more Cybertruck info……Check out my YouTube ChannelOrigami Cybertrucko

Paperwork is straight forward. Creating a prefill fill in spot is not convenient. Have to stretch out, fill in then reduce to hopefully fit spaces
