NPCIL interview experience -Date 20th MayBranch civilVenue Bengaluru ..A little Backstory-They called us to be at their guest house at 9 am . I woke up and when I checked my documents I realised that 3 Xerox were missing but it was 6 in the morning so I knew there will be no shops opened right now so I just went ahead to the guest house .It took 1 hour by bus.They first started the registration process and were giving token numbers on the basis of which your interview will be done .I told them I'm missing some Xerox . They had an office in which Xerox machine was there so they give me the Xerox .I was 14th for registration .Than they gave us token for lunch and dinner .Than documents verification started .And interview started around 11.Interview-My turn came at 4:25. I was damn nervous . When I entered the room there were 7 people including one female Member. I thought that first I'll wish the female member than the male member but when I entered I just said good afternoon sir by looking at everyone.We will call chairman as Ch and Members ad M1 , M2 and so on..Ch- So Anupam where are you from and how you came here?- told him everything about the journeyCh- Some questions related to my college and University.Ch-Tell me something about your self.- gave my short introduction , I didn't mention my Mtech .Ch-questions from football as I mentioned this as my hobby .- this went really well ( I was literally like ask more questions from football please )Ch- Why NPCIL? You can be frank with us.- last time in RVNL I gave an honest answer and I wasn't selected so here I gave them a diplomatic answer.Ch-Where you want to be posted ?- I said anywhere sir , I'm from MP and even if I get posted anywhere else it'll be better as I will get to experience another culture.Ch-Power plant in MP?- I said No sir, not right now.He said yes , but there is gonna be one in Jabalpur.Ch- So do you have interest in some particular subjects?- soil, environment , somNow let's go for technical questionsCh-You are from Gwalior , right ? What is special about soil there !!- I was point blank . Didn't know what to say , I said I don't know sir .Ch- Heard of black cotton soil!- yes sirCh-Tell me something about it?- told them everything I knewCh- Construction k liye kya keroge aisi soil m?- told them the methodsCh-under reamed piles kya hoti h?- again told themCh-bulb kyo dete h? Nahi denge to kya hoga?- told themNow another person stated from somM1- He gave me a beam with loading support conditions and asked me to draw the SFD and BMD- I tried to draw without Solving reactions but I wasn't able to, So interviewer said go from the basics , find reactions than draw .I found the reaction and drew the SFD BMD and in the middle chairperson said are hame samjhao to ki ker kya rhe ho So i explained them everything. The guy who asked the question said : Something is wrong, So I did it again, he again said Still wrong, I asked Is SFD correct? He said " Why would I tell you that"I looked at it again and couldn't find the mistake so he said it's okey let's move ahead .Bahar aane k bad I realised ki sala Couple tha ek beam m vaha BMD m rise ya fall to hona tha as per the sign vo nahi Kiya MeneM1- Concrete k test batao ?- told themM1- 150 mm ka cube kyo!- I gave him and answer related to the size of course aggregate which is 20 mmM1-20 mm max ya min? Kya mention h code m?- m ek dam se padha hua bhul Gaya and i knew ki ab yad nahi aa rha So after 20 seconds of acting I said sir recall nahi ker pa rha hu and I don't want to guess .He said okeyM1-Workability tests Batao?- told himM1-Then he asked multiple questions from slump cone like size , procedure , slump measure kaise keroge. I gave him the answers but shakal se satisfied nahi Laga bhaiM1- Workability and strength relationship questions.- I told them but than he started going deep into the topic untill I couldn’t answer.M2-Something related to pile which I never studied.- I told him that I have no clue what is he talking about.M2- Again something which I never heard about.- After acting for 10–20 seconds , I said sorry sir, I am not able to recall.M2-Under water construction for piles- I told themM2-How pile resist load?- told him ( I was like kuch to Bana finally )M2-another question related to skin Friction and end bearing- answered.M3-stress diagram of pre stressed concrete ?- drew itM3- Now Make stress diagram of RCC.- drew itThan he started going deep into the topic, We discussed it for about 1 minute.M3-Test for reinforcement-I forgot some tests but managed tell them 2–3 tests.M3- you have studied about Columns?- yessirM3- Explain Long and short column.-I explained through definition, diagram and some examples.M3-Effective length!- told himM3-Effective length for different conditions- told him , He tried to confuse me but I explained him again and he seems okeyAgain chairmanCh- Draw a truss.-sir what kind of truss?Anytype.I drew one trussCh- this is very simple, draw a big one.I drewCh- He gave some Loading conditions batai and then he asked now tell me the nature of forces in the members.- I was trying to figure out without solving it.I said sir we have to solve it bu some method.Ch- How will you solve it?- I told him the methodCh- Do one thing, take a guess and tell.-After 20–30 seconds I took a guessCh- what if it was a beam? Compression and tension will behave than ?-toldThan the chairperson said okey , Anupam I think we are done now.Inside I was like thats it ? Ask something from the environment please !!!So that's how my interview ended.There was a time keeper outside the room, I asked about my interview time and he told me it lasted for 35 minutes.this year interviews are not going for 60-70 minutes .Kal all interviews were in the range of 25-40 minutes .So I think overall they asked around 40 technical questions and I answered 25-30Verdict- Shortlisted for medicalMedical- Blood test , ECG, height , weight , Urine sample , eye check ..18 candidates came from civil and 5-6 were called for medical.EDIT 1- Result were declared in June and I am the last candidate in the waiting list.
