Yes. Many years ago in my first Headship in London I had a parent who was extremely well-known and senior in the world of law. Not only very famous (due to her well known clients), but sadly, very full of herself. This parent was a single parent by choice and her daughter was one of my pupils.One day, the daughter was brought to school, despite being most unwell, with a high fever and serious tummy problems. The nurse came to see me as the child had become so ill that we were considering taking her to hospital.Upon speaking to the child, I found out that she had been brought to school despite being so ill as the mother’s child care arrangements had fallen through that day.The child was becoming more and more distressed, in addition to being very unwell. I informed the nurse to call the mother’s emergency contact number. The mother’s PA said that the school could not possibly talk to the mother as she was in court. I took over the conversation and told the PA to get the mother out of court as her child was about to be taken to hospital by ambulance.About 20 minutes later I answered the phone to the mother to be greeted by “Don’t you know who I am?” Said in the most indignant of tones.My reply was also somewhat indignant.
