A safety tip:Recently, one of my friend met with an accident. She went unconscious, people who gathered there tried to help her and took her to the near by hospital. She was carrying her phone and a wallet with some money. When people tried to get information about her, they couldn't.As she had kept a password to her phone and didn't have any information in the wallet, they had to wait till she got her consciousness back.This tip helps you in such situations by providing information about you to the people who are trying to help you.Add your parent's or any other emergency contact information on your phone's owner information without fail.Steps:Go to Settings.Click on Security option.Click on Owner info - Provide your name and emergency contact numbers here.This information gets displayed on your screen even before unlocking the phone. As shown below.This is really help full in situations like accidents. This might even help when you lose your phone and the person who finds it wants to contact you.Always keep an emergency contact number and your details in your wallet also. Phone and wallets are the two things we always carry around.EDIT:There is a similar option in IOS 8.x on iPhone and iPad to Set up Emergency Medical IDStepsOpen the Health app.Tap on Medical ID menu at the bottom.If you haven’t set up any info for Medical ID yet, tap on Create Medical ID.Fill up all the details for medical conditions. Make sure you mention emergency contacts in case of medical emergencies.Enable the Show When Locked switch. I worked at a private children’s nursery. It was open from 7am till 6pm. One evening a 3 year old boy was the last child left at 6pm. By 10 past we tried ringing his parents, but both their mobiles were switched off. We rang other family members, listed on their emergency contact list, but they lived in the North of England and were unable to help. By 7pm, we finally received a call back from one of his parents. She was in London on business, and her husband was in a different city (also on business). They’d both completely forgotten about their son! Being new to the area, they didn’t have anyone else to pick him up. Another member of staff ended up taking him home, until his Mum finally got back from London and collected him (quite late at night). My friend/colleague who’d taken him home said he was just silent and sucking his thumb the whole time. Even when his Mum collected him, he just got in the car and didn’t say a word.

My mother operated a daycare center for many years and I think her policies and procedures were pretty typical of most daycare centers.Before a parent brings their child to the center, there is usually an enrollment process, during which the parent fills out paperwork, shows proof of vaccinations, etc. One of the pieces of information the parent must provide is an emergency contact person’s information. This person isn’t the parent; it’s someone the parent has designated to take charge of, and make decisions for, the child if the parent is not available.My mother would wait for one hour after the parent was scheduled to pick up their child and would, then, attempt to contact the parent. If she was unable to reach the parent, she would contact the emergency contact person and ask them to pick up the child. When they arrived to get the child, my mother would ask to see identification and then have them fill out a short form stating that they had taken the child.I’ve seen some answers, here, that say the police or child protection services should be called immediately. I think that’s unnecessary and could place the child and parents in an awful situation that, perhaps, isn’t warranted. Some situations are beyond a parent’s control and it’s unreasonable to subject them to having the custody of their children brought into question.
