Period. :) *….but for real….My understanding is that the Marines are held to a certain standard that requires uniformity and upholding the Corps’ values.Marines have always had strict standards and guidelines about wearing cammies off base. Some reasons for this include:-pride and uniformity-wearing cammies in public makes the individual a target. There are foreign operatives and weirdos who could potentially cause a Marine great harm. This is easily avoided by not wearing the cammies in public.Before General Conways ban, Marines used to be able to briefly stop off base for things like gas, dry cleaning, etc. Now, Marines are only authorized to stop for emergencies (car accidents, emergency medical situations, breaking down etcetera).Besides being caught and given a page 11, restriction to the barracks, and loss of pay, the likelihood that another Marine will catch you (or multiple Marines) is another factor….and probably the most embarrassing.I was driving by a gas station off of Western Blvd near Lejeune one day and happened to look over and see a marine outside of his Vehicle pumping gas. I couldn’t just let it go, so of course I pulled up next to him to let him know how Nasty he was making my Corps look. I wasn’t even able to get near him before there was a swarm of other Marines heading towards him. Because this “Soldier” is not actually a Soldier, and is scamming you. Here are a few reasons to back up my claim:1.) CAC cards (active duty ID cards) DO NOT cost the service member ANY money whatsoever. They can't pay for one if they tried..2.) If a service member is to lose their ID, they are subject to a minor punishment, normally not to exceed a Page 11 (the USMC's version of a ‘slap on the wrist'). If their command is “cool" with them, they might get off without a problem, as I did the time I lost my CAC card between the dashboard and windshield of my ex wife's car.3.) No actual service member is EVER going to ask a stranger(which is YOU, because you don't actually know them, everything they tell you about themselves is a LIE) for money. The absurdity of their “reasons” for “needing” money should be a dead giveaway that they're full of shit, but if you've made it this far as to ask about it on here, it's obviously above your head..

Having worked as a Brig Guard for the USMC, I can tell you that you don’t get discharged as soon as you leave prison. There is a lot of paperwork that goes along with getting discharged. It all depends on that Marines sentence. They could get found guilty and ordered to be discharged with no prison time.Generally, after the Marine gets out of the Brig he will be sent back to their unit and do cleaning parties until the company get around to discharging them. It only takes a day or two to fill out the paperwork and get discharged. Usually the Brig is filled with people that go UA/AWOL or pop on a piss test. There are some Marines that go back to their units and carry on, but it is rare.You really have to mess up to get court martialed. There are so many other other punishments that can be administered called NJP (Non Judicial Punishment) ranging to a Page 11 (USMC, Navy) or Article 15 (Army), I don’t know what it is for the Air Force. That includes getting demoted or forfeiting some or all of you pay for a short time.There are murders and thieves in the Brig as well and their sentences are longer, so they would be assigned to an admin company. That admin company will be responsible to process that Marine out.
