PDF Editor FAQ

Can someone get admission abroad with a CGPA somewhere in between 2.5 to 3.0 out of 4?

Q. Can someone get admission abroad with a CGPA somewhere in between 2.5 to 3.0 out of 4?A. It would be easier if you can offset the low CGPA with higher than average SAT/ACT/TOEFL scores and extracurricular activities. The following is a blog for applicants with low GPA scores, followed by links to colleges that are less strict in terms of GPA. If you can afford the tuition and fees, some college will give you a chance. All the best!GET INTO COLLEGE BLOGFEBRUARY 6, 20155 Reasons Not to Be Discouraged By a Low GPA1. Colleges look at the complete application package. There may be a lot of factors working in your favor besides your high school GPA. The college application brings together many different elements of your achievements and experience. It's common for students to dwell on the negative factors and to become pessimistic about their chances of being accepted to their top-choice colleges. Keep in mind that this is not the same perspective the admissions officers will take.2. Applications let you emphasize your strengths. In your essay and interview, you get a clean slate. Take advantage of this chance to play up the best parts of your application. Highlight some experiences outside the classroom that have been especially important to you. Write about things you've accomplished, decisions you've had to make, and values that guide your life. Convince the admissions committee that you have what it takes to be a leader on campus and an asset to the school.3. You can show an upward trend. If you still have a few semesters left of high school, make them your best. Admissions officers love to see signs of improvement on a student's transcript. Show that you take your work seriously and that you've learned how to be a great student. Some schools don't even include your marks from 9th grade in their own calculation of your GPA. If you can do well in your challenging junior and senior year classes, you'll be prepared for college-level work. Seek extra help from your teachers to master the course content, and show them that you're doing everything you can to perform at your best. If your parents are willing to invest in tutoring, this is the time when it can benefit you the most.4. If personal or family factors affected your grades, you can point this out.College life is not easy. If you've faced challenges and worked to overcome them, this is a valuable strength that will help you to make the most of your college experience. It's okay if your grades went down around the time of a death in the family, a divorce, an illness or injury, or other personal circumstance. Even if you simply had trouble adjusting to high school and it took you a year or two to get settled, that may be worth writing about. Tell the admissions committee about these events in your life and how they've affected you. Not only does this explain your low grades, it personalizes your application and gives the admissions officers some insight into your life.5. Many schools offer a conditional acceptance. If you're an outstanding applicant except for some lower-than-ideal grades, you may be offered a conditional acceptance. You go to your dream school and, as long as you maintain a certain GPA during your first year (or two years), you're there to stay. This gives you a chance to prove that you can be successful in the new and exciting campus environment. Once you're in just do your best, seek help when you need it, and everything should work out just fine.ABOUT STEVE SCHWARTZThe Best Colleges with Low GPA RequirementsColleges you can get into with a 2.5Colleges you can get into with a 2.5 GPA and C+ averageConnecticutMitchell College 2.68DelawareWesley College 2.7GeorgiaGeorgia Gwinnett College 2.7IndianaCalumet College of Saint Joseph 2.5KentuckyKentucky State University 2.44MarylandMorgan State University 2.65MassachusettsMount Ida College 2.6American International College 2.57Dean College 2.4Newbury College Brookline 2.65Nichols College 2.63MississippiRust College 2.7MissouriHarris Stowe State University 2.49Lincoln University 2.7New HampshireNew England College 2.66New JerseyBloomfield College 2.6New YorkDowling College 2.7North CarolinaCatawba College 2.36North Carolina A & T State University 2.68Chowan University 2.64Saint Augustines College 2.37Shaw University 2.36OhioCentral State University 2.6PennsylvaniaCheyney University of Pennsylvania 2.5South CarolinaBenedict College 2.5Morris College 2.55TennesseeLe Moyne Owen College 2.5VermontGreen Mountain College 2.7VirginiaVirginia Union University 2.61

How do you explain your degree in one sentence?

I don’t have to. My title Dr. does it for me. However, because American culture admires fraud I rebel by making available my official transcript and invite people to check with Delaware State University class of 2009 to verify my PhD.

I'm trying to get into state unviersities, but I will only have 4 AP classes on my transcript. Is this bad?

Ummmm… my son got into YALE having only two APs on his transcript at application time. He graduated with five. Granted, he also had 7 Honors classes at application time, which at his school are weighed equally. But still, he only had two actual APs.He also got into Boston College, Tufts, Colby, Hamilton, WPI (with the highest merit scholarship) and University of Delaware Honors college (also with highest merit scholarship). So yeah, if you’re looking to go to state universities, you’ll be fine with four… As long as you did well on the tests and the rest of your application is strong. Otherwise, even 10 APs might not help you.
