PDF Editor FAQ

How do you find or get warm B2B leads in 2020?

You don’t need to find or get warm B2B leadsYou need to find qualified leads.A warm lead is a person who has taken an action in favour of your business. Replied to a mail, commented on a post or consumed your free product…..The risk with warm lead is that most often than not, he took the action out of curiosity and might not be interested in buying your product. You will not want to spend your time and effort on this type of person.InsteadHow do you turn complete strangers into raving fans ready to buy, over and over again? It was around 2012 that I first came to understand this.I spoke to a legendary direct marketer,Frank Kern.Frank had been baptized at that time as the most successful direct response marketer on planet earth! He had made millions and millions of dollars selling his courses online.Being one of Frank’s students, I asked him during a class:“How have you been able to grow so big and so fast?”I fully expected Frank to say something abouthis list size, the channel and method he uses, the amount he invests intoadvertising or the quality of his copywriters. But that’snot at all what Frank said.“We recognized early on, when it comesto marketing, Plenty of people can copy the actual words in an ad,or the pictures, or even the strategy behind it. But nobody, can ever copy the relationship and bond that you have withyour customer base and prospects.”It took a bit for me to fully digest what Frank wassaying. But, once I did, it made complete senseEverything we do as marketers, every lead generation method is built on top ofbonds and relationships with prospects.Whether we're publishing a blog post, creating avideo for YouTube, doing a Facebook Live, writing a cold email or creating alanding page, a sales page, or a full-blown marketingcampaign… behind each of those is a bond or relationship. That relationship with the prospect can be nonexistent and cold. Or it can be great and warm. You could either be creating a relationship and bond with your prospect before, during and after your marketing campaign, or….You can be burning the candle on both ends by hard selling to them, using all types of the “cool” whizbang marketing tactics. When I understood this principle, I experienced a complete turn around in my lead generation. Now, look: Before going any further, I need to make sure you understand something. This is critical. So, please pay close attention. When I say, “Bond or Relationship”, I’m NOTtalking about the typical marketing “hook”, “get my free ebook”,“sign up for my free webinar”, “Get a free trial of my software”, or “Grab my free consultation hour”. Noram I talking about the “shallow” personalization, your cold email template, your headline,No. Those are all valuable. Sure. And those areall taught by most marketing experts. Absolutely. As they should be.Relationship here simply means, helping your prospect even before you start the marketing campaign. It really does not matter if you are planning to run a cold email campaign or a Facebook ad.What really matters is the help you provide to your audience even before that campaign. When you do this, your audience knows you, likes you, trusts you and already wants to do business with you, even before you show them your offer! When you do this, how you get warm leads does not matter, whichever method you choose to go with, just seek to understand the channel, but use this principle of helping the client first.I wrote an article here about this topic and you can have a look if this answer resonated with you!

What are some incidents in which someone tried to scam you over the internet and failed?

A couple years ago I needed some cash and decided to try to sell a couple items on Craigslist. They were two very different items: a Specialized Allez road bicycle, and a Fender Jazz bass guitar. The next day, I received e-mail inquiries on both items. I read the e-mail for the first response, regarding the bicycle. It sounded legit, so I replied back to the sender. Then I read the e-mail about the bass guitar. Again, it looked legit, and I replied back. However, there was a little something that started pinging in the back of my brain after reading the second e-mail.It happens that I read a lot in my spare time. Always have. Aside from reading books, I also read a lot on Internet discussion boards, and I’ve subscribed to a number of e-mail discussion groups over the last 20 years. Because of this, I am quite accustomed to different people having different writing styles, particularly when writing in informal, “conversational” situations. It occurred to me, after replying to the second e-mail, that both e-mails sounded almost like they’d been written by the same person, although each one gave me a different name. I had some clues:• Both “buyers” offered to come by my place in 2–3 days and pay me in cash.• Both cheerfully agreed to pay the dollar amount I was asking, without making a lower offer, despite the fact that I was offering both items for a bit more than they were actually worth at that point (both items were about 7-8 years old at that time).• Both were “overwritten”. That is, they went on far longer that I would have expected for a simple “hey, I’m interested in what you’re selling” e-mail. They both went on and on talking about how genuinely interested they were in my items, and then used rather long-winded explanations about what time they got off work and the errands they needed to run after work, and they’d be by my place around 7:00PM.• Also, both e-mails, according to timestamps, arrived in my inbox within minutes of each other. So despite both e-mails using completely different words, they pinged something in the back of my brain that said, “these sound like they were written using a template”. Had I not been selling two different items at the same time I would not have received two replies, and probably would not have been as suspicious. However, I had replied to the initial e-mails, so I waited to see what happened.Sure enough, within a day they got back to me, and confirmed my suspicions.• It apparently never occurred to them that I would have kept their original e-mails, because they gave me different names the second time around. (Wait, wasn’t this guy “Bob” in the first e-mail? Why is he “Ted” now?)• Both were extremely apologetic because they weren’t going to be able to come by on the originally stated date and time. One had been sent out of town on business “at the last minute”, and the other needed to go out of town to pick up his son “at the airport in another city” (he couldn’t be bothered to say which city - “Seattle” would have sounded more natural and would have been shorter to type, but I suspect the writer didn’t even know which city I lived in, despite originally claiming to be from the same city as me).• And, finally, they each gave me a new date for coming by my place, and subtly slipped in “cashier’s check” as the method of payment. My suspicions were confirmed, and I stopped communicating with them. Needless to say, nobody showed up at my apartment, and they did not send any followup e-mails to ask why I hadn’t replied. This apparent scam seemed to follow the principle of “baffle them with bullshit”. That is, the over-writing was deliberate: Provide way too much unnecessary information and hope that the reader only remembers the word “cash”. Then, in the followup, again provide way too much information and hope the reader doesn’t notice that “cash” has now changed to “cashier’s check”.

If you write fan mail to a soundtrack composer, how long does it take to get a reply?

It depends entirely on the composer.Send mail to any fo the really big names, like Zimmer, Williams, Elfman, etc…, and you might expect a reply in a few weeks to a few years, and there’s a chance it could be a standard fill-in-the-blanks templated reply from their secretary of fan mail or something. Sometimes, when you get a lot of fan mail, and have a lot to do, it gets hard answering it all personally.Sometimes, though, especially with lesser known composers, it can happen almost immediately. I sent a message via SoundCloud once to a composer, asking if she had taken down one of her videos. Got a response within a day, the video made public again (she’d accidentally set it to private on YouTube, and a nice little discussion about some of the projects she was working on. It was pretty cool.So if the soundtrack composer isn’t busy, or doesn’t have too many adoring fans, you could get a reply within the time it takes for mail to travel. Or, if they’re super busy and overloaded by tons of fans, you might not get anything back, or it could take a long time. But it never hurts to try!
