What is an insane senior prank you took part in during high school?

With great skill and no moral compass, I convinced my principal and most of the teachers that the school was haunted by the enraged manifestation of the undead redneck janitor, “Scooter Jenkins™”.(An important detail is that at least 2 other schools in the area had copycat Jenkingeists™ and not many people besides myself would actually know which one I'm referring to as each copycat claimed to be the originator except myself as I never admitted to the crime . But apparently after 16 years the schools old principal is still trying to figure who did it, so I'm being really sly with the details)I went to a small school in REDACTED, Australia with under 220 students. What you need to know about Australia is that we have summer in November through to January, so my final days at REDACTED were bloody scorchers. I was bored shirtless and had nothing to do as I had exams for two weeks and only had 1-2 hours of school a day but was picked up and dropped off by a school bus that only came at 9am and 3–5 pm. I couldn't go home as I lived quite far away away and departed the school bus for a train station too far to walk to school I was stuck. I have a brother with a ute but he worked as a civil engineer in the city from 4.30am- 3pm and wouldn't get home till 7Something a buddy of mine showed me was that, at the back of the school yard was a disused maintenance shed that he had broken the padlock off with Bolt cutters and used as a private smokers lounge during lunch. the room contained a rather large pipe system used for testing water flow and clearing multiple toilet blockages at once (I feel it necessary to point out that my older brother was a civil engineer the time but had also been a plumber before and was pretty good at his job(s);this is important later).Simply put if you fiddled with some valves and poured a liquid down the pipes, the liquid would disperse at every toilet in the school. I theorised that system was intended for use with drain cleaner or bleach and had been converted from some kind of junction point, without the education departments knowledge by the most MacGyver of the lazy janitors and had been abandoned rather than repaired to avoid costs. That night I grabbed about 10 palletes of fruit cakes that the local Coles had thrown out in a dumpster (i knew a guy), at least 200Kgs of discarded meat (mostly intestines and old cuts that could not be sold) from an anonymous source (i knew another guy) and some large barrels and a septic tank with some pvc pipe fittings and pieces from the local bunnings. All night i had been pouring and blending guts and blood with various equipment into 2 weeks worth of barrels and used my brothers ute to cart the tank and as many barrels as we could to the school and hook it up to the system at 3am, just before he left to go to work. The teachers never checked the maintenance shed because they themselves apparently lost the key to it even before i put a new lock on the double doors. So i could sneak in during classes and set up the system so that at lunch when one single dunny was flushed they all filed up rancid fruit cake and guts.I ended up doing this every day for 2 weeks at lunch complementing this with smaller pranks like writing “I AM JENKINS” in blood on the mirrors, setting up headless mannequins in the bathrooms and leaving a set of bloody coveralls and a plunger in the hallway and other such nonsense until i left. Not a single shit had graced those bowls for weeks when i was doneAfterwards several copycats at other schools did stuff like write JENKINS in sharpie and smeared shit on the walls. But i was, no am the JENKINSGEISTI've tweaked some facts to prevent people from finding out where this happened but it is a very small area so chances are everybody else has just forgotten about itSidenote: 4 janitors quit because of me, i apologize if they happen to be reading this

What's more reliable, the 2010 Toyota Corolla or the 2010 Honda Civic?

BOTH normally VERY reliable, I usually give Toyota a small edge …….. BUT I’m slightly biased because I prefer Toyota’s higher driving position, Honda sits too low for a 69-year old with creaky joints BUT Hondas are generally considered MORE FUN TO DRIVE.However, if you’re comparing the two as USED CARS ……. COMPLETELY DEPENDS UPON PREVIOUS MAINTENANCE practices by previous owners. Stay far away from former rentals, or dealer demonstrators, the old fashioned approach seeking a ONE OWNER car is best if there are SERVICE RECORDS.I NEVER buy a used car that has NO SERVICE RECORDSI NEVER buy a used car without a thorough PRE SALE INSPECTION, preferably by a shop and technician with a lot of experience with that specific brand.I trade and swap cars frequently ( I’m not sure why, some kind of ‘QUEST’ ?) and this has SAVED ME THOUSANDS of hard-earned dollars ONLY WHEN I followed my own advice.Bought a car on eBay one snowy winter, a friend drove me from NC to Wilkes Barre PA to pick up a beautiful ‘medium Adriatic blue’ 1994 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon (YES the price was too good to be true). It was just a scammy wholesale place that grossly and brazenly misrepresented the cars condition. ‘Ad said NO ISSUES, what a joke) I looked under the car with a flashlight, saw some surface rust but DIDN’T SEE THE SERIOUS HIDDEN RUST. I was still committed to restoring the car, snow continued falling as I drove across Wilkes Barre mountain, heading back South toward NC on bald tires, NO HEATER OR DEFROSTER and later the starter failed in MD stranding me overnight. There was slight warm air as long as the car was moving, most cars will warm slightly without the heater fan.Spent $5,000 to $7,500 restoring this car, it had nice condition blue leather, the AWESOME Corvette derived LT-1 engine, was powerful and fun to drive on vacation, seating for 8. I later discovered serious frame rust, hidden under rear sub-frame members where apparently road salt had been allowed to accumulate for years but before I could replace them or get a temporary welding repair, the rear steel perimeter ladder frame of this 5,000 pound BEHEMOTH broke and separated while I was driving 45 MPH !Believe it or not, I irresponsibly drove it home (alone) and experienced for the FIRST TIME EVER a car that was steering from loose rear end where the frame had separated from the axle. That’s right, it was steering itself from the rear, I had to countersteer using the steering wheel in the opposite direction. ‘High novelty seekers’ a psychologist term but most people would just say YOU'RE COMPLETELY NUTS !This may not be the MOST FOOLISH CAR ERROR I’ve ever made BUT it’s in the top 3 certainly.A financially painful experience and a disappointing end to my dream of a shiny blue SURFER CRUISER with yellow surfboards on top, however the engine and transmission were valuable to other restorers, collectors and that allowed some salvage value, the alloy wheels were also sought by collectors, so I got some satisfaction from the whole ORGAN TRANSPLANT approach.1994–1996 Buick Roadmasters a PINNACLE of American car design, amazing roominess 3rd seat wagon and high-performance. This huge tank actually handled well considering it’s bulk, they called it ‘Dyna-Ride Suspension’ or something like that.***************************************************************************************************************************************************Your reward for reading this far ?Accident proof your driving by following the safe MOTORCYCLISTS MANTRA ….. (courtesy of Motorcycle Safety Foundation, an oxymoron ? )S + I + P + D + ESCAN INTERPRET PREDICT DECIDE EXECUTEThis is ZEN DRIVING, forming reliable subconscious habits which can give you a few LIFE SAVING seconds margin of error and actually prevent accidents that would have been caused by the actions of other drivers, NOT YOU necessarily.Truck drivers call it ‘ALWAYS LEAVING YOURSELF A WAY OUT’I’m an old retired guy but I do drive a 33,000 pound school bus with up to 72 students 30 hours every week. You wouldn’t believe some of the driving errors and foolish maneuvers I see every day from the many LSO’s sharing the road.PLEASE DON’T BE A LOW SKILL OPERATOR. I’ll just look down (literally) on you with your smart phone in your lap, tailgating because you’re in a hurry, trying to beat my school bus stop arm by accelerating, etc. By the way, if you rear end a school bus you‘ll likely BE DECAPITATED. I’ve seen the rear bumper of a school bus reach the steering wheel, 6-inches from the drivers head because fortunately only going 20 mph car driver NOT REMEMBERING that ALL PASSENGER BUSES ARE REQUIRED TO PUT ON HAZARDS and COME TO A FULL STOP AT ALL RAILROAD CROSSINGS, controlled or not. Hitting a school bus at higher speeds 45–60 mph may require 4 to 6 hours of rescue extrication trying to get a body out without mutilating it beyond recognition. Yes, I’ve seen a lot of gruesome stuff working EMS.

Why is U.S. mass transit and transportation infrastructure so far behind Europe, Japan and China?

1) The main industry in the US since 1910 was car manufacturing. Henry Ford wanted his workers to be able to buy a car with 2 months salary. Developing a good mas transit and transport infrastructure would go against this, as you really dont want to buy a car and handle the headaches that come with it - cost, repair, maintenance - if you have a good and efficient mass transit system. Just ask msot of us who live in Japan and China. My office colleagues have a car, but rarely use it as the bus and metro system in Chinese cities is excellent. Only my friends who live in regions where there are no train stations closeby use their car.2) Japan - even though it had a car industry, it was aware of a major difference between it and USA. Japan is small in area, hence even with their excellent roads, they would see traffic jams daily everywhere if people used cars just to commute to work. Hence they developed a good railway and bus system since the 1970s.I have been to Japan often in teh past 30 years - sure they have cars and vans, but they mainly use them (a) when they live in smaller cities and (b) ot reach areas that dont have proper railway stations. Most places that have factories etc automatically develop a good mass tranport system.3) China - is slightly different. It s large in area, but its cities still have a high density of population. Chinese people could begin to afford cars only in the past 10 years. Even then, it is only the upper middle class that can afford cars. The government here too realised that if everyone used cars daily to go to office, their 6–8 lane roads would be filled with cas and result in daily traffic jams, leading to angry people and civic unrest. Areas in the north of China - especially Liaoning province - used to have street fights with guns due to traffic right upto 2007!Hence the government has ensured that there always are railway stations, lines and buses to reach popular destinations - be they offices, amusement parks, gardens, tourist spots, schools, colleges, museums and libraries. In the Chinese city I currently live in, we have 6 highly efficient metro lines, each with 20 stations, and we already have another 4 lines under construction (China speed).
