Unless you have world-class expertise…and I’m talking recognized, leading expert in your field in which case you probably wouldn’t be asking this question on Quora …it is impossible to get a job in Canada from outside Canada.This is why…In order to hire someone from outside Canada, the employer must obtain a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) that proves there is no one in Canada able to do that job.This regulation gives workers already in Canada priority for available jobs. The government wants Canadians and current Permanent Residents already in the country hired first.The requirements for an LMIA cost the employer at LEAST three months of time ... and advertising costs which will vary.... because the employer has to advertise the position widely in Canada for a month.I've posted national job ads for a previous employer. The cost can easily run into thousands of dollars. If the employer receives suitable applications from Canadians or recent PR holders, the employer has no reason to hire outside the county.Remember that there are 36 million Canadians, that 53% of Canadian workers have university degrees, and that PR holders are also likely to be highly educated and experienced. Therefore, in almost every case, there will be someone in Canada qualified to fill the advertised job.If the employer receives no suitable applicants, before hiring outside Canada, the employer MUST STILL apply for an LMIA from Employment and Social Development Canada.Processing for this takes two months. The fee is $1100 Canadian. It is so time-consuming and so expensive to hire outside Canada that the majority of Canadian employers won't even look at an out-of-county application.When I was helping with hiring for a previous employer, we just deleted out-of-country applications unread - we already had stacks of applications from experienced people already in Canada so there was no point in even opening the submissions from out-of-county applicants. Many companies have their applicant tracking software set to automatically delete out-of-county applications.In addition to all the regulatory requirements, Canadian employers often don’t have the time or resources to try to verify out-of-country references/qualifications, especially those in an unfamiliar language. Nor are they willing to hire someone they have never met since collaborative teamwork is an important part of Canadian workplaces.Anyone who tells you different - especially if they're asking you for money to find you a job in Canada - is probably trying to scam you to get your money. Canada is also one of the least corrupt countries on the planet so you cannot pay under-the-table for a job offer. There are significant penalties for this type of fraud.If any company asks you to ‘pay’ for any aspect of a job offer - it isn’t a job, it’s a scam. Keep your money and walk away.BTW, if you do not have a valid job offer when applying to immigrate to Canada, you must have enough money available to support yourself in Canada while re-settling. Current amount for a single person is $12,669 CAD.
